FS: *Brand New* Mercedes OEM 17" Sport Wheels+Tires

Have a *brand new* Mercedes Benz OEM (genuine) set of 17" wheels and tires for sale. They have solely 15 miles on them. I drove my car home from the dealership and swapped them out for a set of pricey BBS rims. The wheels (7.5 x 17 on the front and 8.5 x 17 on the rear) are the latest and greatest five-spoke sport design. They feature the 5x112 bolt pattern, which I believe is standard to all Mercedes. The tires have 100% tread and are high-performance Michelin Pilots with staggered setup 225/45R17 on front and 245/40R17 on the rear (all 91W, XL loading). The wheels and tires are in *new and perfect* condition, they’re mounted and balanced, and include the Mercedes OEM center caps and lugs. The Michelin tires alone retail for $218.00 each. Asking $1,800.00 (obo) for the complete set (everything). Email me for pictures. Thanks in advance.

to be honest you would be lucky to get 50% of your asking price.

i think he can easily get about $1200... maybe a little more since it sounds to be in good condition... but, definitely not $1800

well, unless, 05C230K found someone that was very generous and carefree with their money...

The exact wheels with less than 100 miles went for $1000 on ebay last week. I got a used set with 3k miles for $800 local.

Yeah but Ebay sucks.

You can get huge swings in price paid for items from day to day depending on which retard bid that day. You have to love Ebay.

Thanks to everyone for all your constructive feedback. These wheels are *original* Mercedes OEM and are *brand new*. They're not Chinese/Taiwanese knock-offs from eBay or replicas (also called "Mercedes Style" or "Mercedes Design”), which often do not even have DOT or TUV approvals to be sold in the US (or in Germany). Beware, that many people sell garage-made replicas as OEM take-offs for a fraction of the price. For instance, there are no OEM chrome wheels in Mercedes (unless they’re replicas). Such replica wheels are poor quality products made of cheap alloys (lightly chroming them helps hide imperfections), and tend to crack under temperature swings and stress. Moreover, they rapidly oxidize (regardless if they chromed or not) in rainy/snowy weather conditions.

If you buy my wheels and tires from a Mercedes dealer they would cost you more than my sell price. Specifically you’d be charged for:
- Mercedes center caps
- High-quality valve stems
- Lugs
- Mounting
- Balancing
- Packing and Shipping or Sales Tax (if you pick them up)

Alternatively, if you buy my wheels and tires at www.tirerack.com (an ok bet after a Mercedes dealer) you will pay: $218 per Michelin Pilot (as opposed to less-expensive Continentals) plus $399-$499 per high-quality 17” rim. If you run the numbers, you’ll note that you’ll have a bill of over $2,000.00 before getting them mounted, balanced and shipped. Mercedes OEM center caps and stainless steel lugs (all around) would not be included. Those would cost you $125-175 at least (if one can get them at all).

Here’s a link for you to check some prices on your own:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Compar...helin&x=11&y=1

In a nutshell, I am offering everything, all-in for $1,800.00. That’s not a bad deal at all (one gets what one pays for). If you’d like to make me a reasonable offer, by all means, please do. Otherwise, good luck in finding a better deal on a *brand new* OEM set.

Thanks again and regards.

Tirerack will balance and mount them for free.

In addition, if you go to the MBUSA site you will find that your particular wheels are $992 thru the Accessory department as shown on the built your own site. This does not require your original/old wheels/tires as a tradein.
Link

Numbers game since you brought it up for my location.

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 225/45-17 ($166 ea) & 245/40-17 ($198 ea) + ship = $770.04
MB wheels from dealer + mount & balance + tax = $1107.59
For a combined total of $1877.63.

Now your advertised price for used takeoffs is $1800 without a word whether or not shipping is included. You make the decision which members on here will go for.

PS
I used your link to obtain the tire prices. :p :v

So, let’s run the numbers in a couple of different scenarios (i.e. comparing apples to apples):

i) Buy the tires and wheels at www.tirerack.com and pay only shipping:
- Pay $218.00 per tire = $872.00
- Pay $399.00 per high-quality 17” wheel = $1,596.00
- Pay packing, shipping and insurance (on average) of $150.00 to $200.00
Total = $2468.00 plus $150.00 to $200.00 = $2,618.00 to $2,668.00

Note a: OEM Mercedes center caps and lugs not included.

Note b: One still would need to pay sales tax on the wheels and tires package, depending on the State one resides.

ii) Buy the tires at www.tirerack.com and the 17” wheels at www.mbusa.com
- Pay $218.00 per tire = $872
- Pay packing, shipping and insurance (on average) $100.00 to $150.00
Sub Total = $972.00 to $1,022.00

- Pay $992.00 per set of 17” OEM (genuine) Mercedes wheels = $992.00
- Pay either packing, shipping and insurance (on average) of $100.00 to $150.00 OR sales tax of $81 (assuming a tax rate of 8.25%)
Sub Total = $1073.00 to $1,142.00

- Pay mounting and balancing (on average) $20.00 per wheel = $80.00
Sub Total = $80.00

Total = $2,125.00 to $2,244.00

Note a: OEM Mercedes lugs not included.

Note b: One still would need to pay sales tax on the tires, depending on the State one resides.

Reiterating, I am offering an OEM (genuine) set of 17” wheels and Michelin Pilot tires for $1,800.00 (all-in). That’s between 18% and 48% less that one can pay for a set of *new* 17” OEM (genuine) Mercedes wheels and Michelin Pilot tires elsewhere.

Still a competitive, hassle-free and convenient deal. For instance, one does not need to carry wheels and tires around to get them mounted and balanced. And... ...one does not need to drive back home with dirty (old) tires inside one’s car… Unless if one does not care and have plenty of time to spare (a valid point for some people).

Everything is *brand new* and arrives at your *doorstep* ready to put on your car. What if your lugs are different? No problem, as I am including the OEM lugs as well as part of the package.

Thanks again for everyone’s helpful feedback.

Why "overpriced"? I am selling a *new*, *mounted* and *balanced*, *genuine* set of Mercedes OEM 17" wheels and Michelin Pilot tires, *pack* and *ship* everything (including *center caps* and *lugs*) for less than anyone else and you say that it is "overpriced"? We already compared “apples to apples” and checked the math, and to that end your choice of words seem pretty unfair to me. Anyhow, I will leave our discussion at that. If anyone in this forum is interested please PM or email me. Thanks.

People with only 6 post on this board...

are not a know entity so any one who purchases from you has to figure in a "risk premium" because the potential purchaser dosn't have any assurance you are not going to rip them off, therefore a price of $1,800 which is only marginaly lower than a safe purchase from a known retailer is not that good of a value.

Second, you are selling used wheels, even if they only have 15 miles on them. People on this board, who are interested in USED wheels, want to purchase them at a large discount. People willing to pay as close to retail as you are asking , want NEW wheels and tires.

If you had more than six posts on this board, you would know this, and not be surprised by the responces you are receiving.

Your posting makes sense. Thank you. I can fully relate to your "risk premium" argument and that this community is seeking to have "large discounts" for posted items.

Moreover, your comment is not only fair, but also it provides some good perspective on the mentality of this forum/community.

While I am not willing to give them away as some people may like to see happening, I am happy to mitigate the "risk premium" concerns in (at least) two different ways:

a) By being open to do a COD deal.

b) By demonstrating that I have been a long-standing member of various other communities and that I have, for example, perfect feedback (100%) on eBay.

Thanks again and best regards.

Why would the buyer have to be a 'fool'? I read no specifics of the sale. Drawing conclusions and then posting smack merely highlights a desire for puffery.

you are very lucky if you got close to what you were asking. The best I got for my stock 16s less than 20 miles, not a single scratch or blemish was 550.
