2025 CLE AMG 53
Extended warranty
My CLE AMG 53 should be arriving in the next few weeks and I am preparing for the paperwork and delivery process. This will be my first Mercedes. I usually never buy extended warranties, but I am considering it due to the complexity of the vehicle. I do not yet know if my dealer sells the Mercedes warranty or an after market alternative. This auto groups other dealerships always sell an after market alternative and not the one from the manufacturer.
1. Is it a good idea to buy an extended warranty and if so, is it worth staying with one directly from Mercedes?
2. Is it best to purchase at the time of sale or is there a longer window such as before the original warranty expires where the pricing does not change?
3. Are there dealerships that sell a high volume of extended warranties at a discounted price compared to the selling dealer?
Thank you

From what I understand, Fidelity offers a prorated refund based on both mileage and time. Their warranty begins on the date of purchase, so if you buy a 7-year/75,000-mile warranty and sell the vehicle when the factory warranty expires at 4 years/50,000 miles, you would receive a prorated refund for the remaining 3 years/25,000 miles.
With Mercedes-Benz, however, the warranty is only eligible for a full refund if you cancel it before the factory warranty expires.
I had Fidelity warranties on my Porsche and Audi vehicles but never needed to use them before selling. Each time, I received a prorated refund without any issues.
Since my CLE53 is my first Mercedes-Benz, I decided to go with the official MB extended warranty. While I have mixed opinions on both Fidelity and MB warranties, I believe Fidelity stands out as one of the better third-party options.

Good answers @duffer5 , @Faast as mentioned, if you've "come to term", either time or mileage on your Fidelity extended warranty, there wouldn't be any warranty coverage to pro-rate back to you, whether or not you've used the policy for repairs. Same as home or auto insurance.

You always want to get a genuine Mercedes extended warranty. There are aftermarket warranties, but they are not the same..
I usually lease my vehicle so they are within the warranty .. you never want to own a car like this outside of the warranty petiod.
If you must have the warranty, get the Mercedes-Benz extended warranty
