CLE53 Interior Noise Levels

Hello CLE53 owners - I currently have a 2018 C43 and I am thinking of getting the CLE53. The roar of road and tire noise in my current C43 is just too loud on the highway. Is the interior quieter on the CLE53 versus the C43 for those that have upgraded from a C43? For anyone coming from an E-Class coupe or any other car, how quiet is the interior?

Yes it is quieter, it is not as quiet as E coupe but quieter than the C coupe.

Let's step back a bit here. Road noise is largely a function of the tires and road surface. If you say roar, then I'm assuming you are driving on textured concrete roads. What tires do you currently have? The CLE 53 comes with run-flat and I believe MOE (all-season) tires if you order it with the 19" wheels. If you order it with the 20" wheels, then it comes with non run-flat summer performance tires, specifically the Pilot Sport S 5. That's an awesome tire. However, summer performance tires will invariably be noisier, although the Michelin tires are quite good when it comes to noise. However, the stiffer sidewalls of run-flat tires can also make tires noisier. Ultimately, road surface is the biggest factor. Around here most streets and highways are paved with what's called rubberized asphalt. That's asphalt mixed with shredded old tires. It drastically reduces road noise and the only roar I hear in my C63 comes from the engine until I have to drive over an elevated concrete section of highway. One particular stretch around here is super noisy, so then it roars and it's all down to the summer performance tires generating a lot of noise on that surface. My wife's car with CrossClimate 2 tires doesn't make much of a peep on the same stretch.

While the C236 is newer, has pretty good noise insulation, even the best noise insulation isn't gonna compensate for extreme roar caused by the road surface/tire combination. For context, I drove the CLE 53 on German roads last September and cabin noise was about the same as driving my C63 here in NorCal on the aforementioned asphalt. The main difference with the CLE 53 was the pumped in engine noise.

Got Pirelli MS on my 19 inches CLE AMG 53 and it's way noisier than my Z4 and Macan. Thinking to swap the Pirelli with Michelin and see if it makes a difference.

I swapped the run flats on my C43 out to Michelin Pilot Sport AS3s and I still find the cabin to be noisy compared to other similar cars. It seems that cabin noise was a common complaint with the W205, and there were many threads on users adding additional sound deadening to the floorboards and trunk to compensate. Hopefully that's been addressed a bit with the CLE from the factory.

Mine came with Pirelli and 18 inch wheel. It is quieter than I expected. But will change to non RT tire later for sure.

My 2024 CLE 53AMG came with Michelin Pilot Sport S5, Front: 265/35ZR20 and Rear 295/30 ZR20, they are not run-flats

I think the other respondents are on the right track discussing tires.
I currently am running a 2018 C43 cabriolet and the only noise problem is the heater fan at position 5 or higher.
(I often turn it down to 4 for hands free phone calls.)

The current tires are 18" Continental ProContact GX SSR MOE rated.
These all season run-flats behave almost like real tires.
Earlier versions of this tire were not sticky, rode hard, and were a bit noisy.

For snows, I like the Michelin Pilot Alpin 5 MO?
(Not the best in deep snow.) (Change over is the hard part with a coupe.)

For summer tires, the Michelin Pilot Sport 4/5 MO.
(These make a ringing noise over patched pavement like bouncing a basket ball.)

This is from experience with an E550, E53, and C43. All convertibles.
The TireFit Kit, with adapters from Amazon, has proven useful blowing up beach *****.
It has not worked for any of the flats I have had.
