Xenon fog lights
i'm getting my xenon headlights installed this month by steve and it got me to thinking.... why not install xenon fogs too? so i did some research and came up with this kit . i'm planning to put them on in mid-late april or maybe even may. i got a pretty hefty tax return so i have extra money i could spend . i'll be updating this thread from time to time with pix to show my progress. has anyone already done this? if so, link to thread pls.

i also might change the kit i'm planning to use to the McCulloch 6000K kit. pretty much any type of bulb can be converted to a xenon lighting system

I know of one person who did this on his C320. His sn is bensitto (dont know the spelling). I've seen it many times in person and it looks SICK!!!!!!! Definitely do it. I have attached a pic of 8000K HID headlights to give you an idea of what that would look like (all I did was change the bulbs).

correct me if I am wrong
but the light shown from the link dosen't look like a HID to me.,.
it is no WHERE near the output of HID lights.
(with an exception of older converion kit with 4.3k blub tinted blue which will result the output lumens that low in that specific color).
yet though the color is around 7000K.
(trust me on this,. I have been selling car accessories for 5 years., including unlimited no. of PIAA lights)

Nope, you're both wrong. The car came with "real" xenon's to begin with and I just upgraded the bulbs to 8000K bulbs. No, they are not painted blue, the pic just came out bad. It does put out a decent amount of light and the higher rating bulb you get, the less output you get.

Speaking of "CHEAP" lighting upgrades, I have been working on installing brighter bulbs in the parking lights (smaller lights next to the headlights) for over a MONTH already. Those little 4W bulbs look pee yellow next to the xenon headlights and are too weak compared to the fog's. Should have been an easy thing ...
Stock bulbs are ba9s (9mm bayonet base incandescent bulb) rated at 4 watts. I searched the net looking for 12W to 15W replacement bulbs to fit the stock ba9s socket. Finally found 20 watt bulbs that were the right width to fit in the opening in the headlight housing ($7 each). Problem is they draw too much current and overheat the stock (22g) wires. Had to buy a half dozen ba9s sockets and experiment to find one that could handle 14 guage wires and four trips to hardware stores looking for something that would attach the socket to headlight housing without melting it (another $30 in crap). Oh, and you need a Bosch relay with a diode to provide enough power and avoid cooking the stock wiring back to the N71 module.
So, $50 into it I still have just a pile of hardware sitting on my bar. There's got to be a better way to brighten up those lights (other than switching on the high beams).

It would be nice if the headlights, foglights, and parking lights did not appear to be three different colors...
Good luck with the fogs and post pic's when you are done.

i did it recently. Cut the black wire that connects to the bulb holster. That's the ground. Put a connector on it and use that as the ground and the one that plugs to the bulb as the positive. then u just have to make sure you can close the clamping back on without letting moisture leak into the housing
