Speed sensor wire missing???
Hey guys, my installer told me for some reason my speed sensor wire is missing....i know that mlbenz and danny (mmgrad) said it was there....so the installer is ordering a can bus adaptor? is it possible that some CLKs dont have the speed sensor wire and need the can bus adaptor? i have a 2000 clk430 with the k3 package i think ( sunshade, cd changer, bose system)
steve if ur reading this...does it sound right..? or anyone that has put in a NAV?
Thanks in advance

Tell your installer to look for the green wire (w/ black tracer) in the passenger side lower kick panel area, it's there, I suspect the installer doesn't know exactly what he is looking for and is taking the easy way out.

It's there. There are threads posted here with PICTURES so you may want to search for that.

Bad news...went to the shopt to day...had them open up the passenger side kick panel, and no dice....could not find the green/black speed sensor wire....I printed out the picture and the installer and I went hunting for it....and we didnt find it...all the connectors were different colors too?

Look down in the rocker panel...I couldn't find mine either at first,( I started cursing my head off)...it wasn't ganged together with the other connectors and was buried. Again it's a blue 8 wire connector.
Good Luck

Heres an update, apparently they didnt find the allusive speed sensor wire and ended up putting in a CAN BUS adaptor. Bottom line I guess is that it now works fine. oh well....

danny...i think they didnt know what they were doing....they looked 3 times and said they couldnt find it... i was there one of the time they looked and i didnt see it either....but i guess its a dead issue now.....so the canbus adapter killed the great deal i got on the eclipse ($1600)

VSS Speed Wire
I am installing a Pioneer Avic-8200NEX and just got off the phone with support at Crutchfield to help with this wire.
All their literature states it should be in the same loom/plug as the constant power plug (red/blue stripe) but it’s not. And they state it should be green/purple stripe. I have a 2001 w208 CLK 310 convertible with Bose fiber. They also say the accessory wire (pink-green stope should be I. The sam eug but it’s in the plug for the cigarette lighter.
so I am not doubting it’s under the sill plate and green with a black stripe, but why do the Technicle papers state otherwise?
Thanks!

Maybe the papers from crutchfield refer to 98-99 CLKs? Starting in 2000 the car got a multifunction display and other can-bus changes and perhaps their literature only takes the older model into account.

They checked 98-99 and 00-01
They checked 98-99 and 00-01 since my car was mfg in 08/00. Nothing on either.
