side marker lights ??

I plan on putting in the colored covers but for now, one of my lights on the side has gone out, any advise on how to remove it so I can replace the bulb. Car keeps complaing "lamp malfunction" .

Also, if I do replace them with painted covers, how do I keep the car from complaining about the bulbs?

Thankss....B

which lights are you referring to? it soudns like you are talking about the ones in the orange reflectors on the sides of the bumper. i dont remember if there are bulbs behind the reflector or not, but if there are you will most likely have to replace it from underneath the car. I have been trying to figure out how to remove the graphite trim rub rail from around my car because it can save me $200 on labor if i take it off myself and as far as i can tell the front bumper needs to be removed to do this, so it may apply to your situation as well. If yo uare lookign for an easier approach, i would try to get to it from inside the engine bay first and if that doesnt work i would try to pry out the reflector with a piece of plastic (i think it prys off from the rear). other options include taking off the lower engine protecter cover and trying to access it from there. If that doesnt work i would take off the wheel well liner and go from there.

This is an easy 2 minute job. I dont remember which way you have to push on the orange side marker light inthe bumper. Its either toward the back of the car or the front and pull on the other end of the light at the same time(using a screw driver covered by a towel to wedge between the bumper and light is the easiest way to do this). The light will pop out, then just twist the socket out of the light and replace bulb. The light is just wedged in there. Actually i'll go see which way you have to push it out right now and tell you the exact way. As for the piece in the bumper. once you get the corner light out you should be able to lightly pull on thepiece starting form either side and it should start popping out. It is held in by "clips" that are attatched to the piece. Let me know if you need more help.

Correct, do what blackbenzz said and make sure to use a towel around the screwdriver. As for the bulb, you need to replace it to get the lamp malfunction off. If you get the painted lenses, then it should cover up the light and nothing should show through. If it does show through a little bit, then keep the bulb in the socket, but remove the bulb from the holder, drop it down inside the bumper, get underneath and ziptie it some wires.

I have the painted lenses to match my car and it looks awesome.

Okay...all I did was put tape on a quarter (so I dont scratch the bumper), then wedged it between the light and the bumper on the back most side of the light, then pushed forward and up. It popped out perfectly.

Thanks for all of your help. Maybe someone can file this under "how to remove your side marker light on the front bumper".
