Thinking about upgrading my sound system. Does anyone know if they make a entertainment command unit that basically using a touchscreen to control the sound systems in the car with a built in DVD/NAV/CD/RADIO/maybe expandable XM or plug in IPOD? Of course the touchscreen is built in and fits supplied by the OEM radio space about 4" X 6" opening. Does anyone have any pics? I heard there was one out there on the market.

There needs to be a lil mod work done...but for the most part it fits, looks stock, and plays mp3/dvd/cds, has a nav, and its a dual drive system, one for cds and one for dvds, touchscreen, etc and aux for an ipod, but no ipod control, xm/sirus ready too

here is my before picture of my system...
here is the after picture (my current system)....
the Eclipse unit is much faster, DVD based (no disc swapping needed), plays movies, MP3s and much much better screen as compared to the stock COMAND

mmgrad, that's pretty tight. Any idea, where I can get one, how much it will cost me, and what the installation cost will be. Also, is that the latest one or is there another one on the market, coming out soon, that may replace that one?

hey curyousgee, I also live in L.A., what's the name of the shop and the contact person who I should look for. Any discounts? What would it cost me? Is that the best system on the market, in your opinion? How's the quality, sound/look/functionality compared to kenwood, alpine, or other companies that carries one similar? thanks.
by the way, curyousgee and mmgrad, will you guys be attending the san diego function? hope to see you guys there so I could check it out.

hey, i went to creative motorsports in la mirada, off of carmenita and the 5. they gave me a great deal on the unit....about $1600...but i think danny (mmgrad) got some more quality self installation, cuz if you look at the pic, the bezel they cut for him looks great......i didnt get that, but the pple at creative are nice pple....just seems like danny did better work. SO bottom line...get it from Ryan from Creative, and ask danny where he got his bezel made?
functionality wise, this unit is great...more than you would ever need...plus you can rig it to play dvd while driving. ONly thing they should have added is DVD enabled MP3s, and maybe a VCD capibilities, but other than that.....its got it all. Ive seen Alpine's latest model, but its minus the Nav...but it has that feed back thing which is kinda cool...can not really comment on anything thing else...but for the money ...its a great all in one package..
btw, theres a san diego function????
if i am free i mite go....but my car isnt done with yet...but sounds like it should be fun

sweet, hope to see you there in san diego. Hey danny, what do you think about the system? was the installation hard? How long did it take you? Where did you get that bezel? Is the system not a perfect fit for the opening? thanks.

i made the bezel myself... so, it will be kinda difficult for you to find that in the market...
perfect fit? no such thing... the double DIN slot that you would create is larger than ANY/ALL Double DIN units out there, so, you would need to create some kind of bezel to cover the gap.
Installation is relatively easy, if you are comfortable working with car electronics. I would say, including time to make some custom cutouts... maybe, around 2-3 hrs to run all the wires & GPS antennas

Out Of Control!!
I was considering the eclipse head unit but my friend (manager at Tweeter)said that when something goes wrong its very hard to get it fixed because the company is located in Japan and dont have any locations in the U.S. Thats something to consider when purchasing.
