Rebadging a Mercedes CLK... not the typical AMG wannabes

Rebadging a Mercedes CLK... not the typical AMG wannabes
Ok, we've all seen MBs rebadged as wannabe AMGs and whatnot...
S430 AMG, CLK320 AMG, etc...
Last Friday (630AM, 10 West around SC), I saw the funniest and most REDICULOUS thing... a Black W203 C-class (C320) that was rebadged as a CLK320 AMG....
The car was bone stock from the factory, not sure why this idiot would think to even bother rebadging it an AMG, and for that matter, rebadging it a CLK320 AMG.
It makes no sense... a 4Dr CLK 320 AMG? Too bad I didn't have my camera else I'd snap a picture for ya'll to enjoy...

I'm driving a 320 right now from the dealer because they still have my car. I can't wait to get it back, this thing is a dog.
The only reason I haven't removed my badges yet is because I might be trading my CLK in soon.

Are you guys in California? I could swear I saw a black W203 with the same stupid badging too just a few days ago.......
By the way, if you buy a new model id, they only provide a CLK these days, to simplify parts, you just take what you need. Maybe someone at the body shop wasn't paying attention and just threw it on.....

yup... i'm in Cali... and i don't think it was a misbadge... CLK320 & AMG badge on a W203... must be that classic MB QA letting that slide...

There is a SLK350 AMG here.
Sad thing here, is some car guys really think she drives an AMG. My friend worked at the Benz dealer and he got played too.
But who cares really, we know the truth, and that's all that matters.

well, see... the thing is, i'm not calling out all the morons who tag their cars AMGs when they clearly aren't cause they ain't foolin' anyone who knows, and those who get played are too stupid to know whats what, so that doesn't matter...

You guys think thats good. I was in Tustin a few months ago when I see a maroon colored ML driving up. The car caught my attention because it had huge 22' chrome spiners. If you guys think thats bad, wait till you read this. The thing parks and I couldnt believe my eyes. On the back left side it says 320 AMG. Under it that is Brabus. DIRECTLY UNDER IT. On the right side, it said ML Lorinser. On the back window, it had a huge white sticker that said "OC". Now don't forget this thing is dark red and has 22' chrome spiners. None of this is made up I swear to you. I wanted to say something to the driver but it was a huge black lady and I didn't wanna get my *** kicked.

I "pulled" a guy over once ... his bull**** AMG badge on a CLK 320 caught my eye ... I nailed him for failing to maintain a proper lane ... anyway ... I was going to let him go ... but when I asked him why he's got AMG on the trunk and no AMG anywhere inside ... not even the rims ... which is how MB gets away with putting AMG on the 430s ... anyway ... he gives me some BS about how it's AMG ... I cut him off ... said I'll be back in a minute ... returned 5 mins later ... told him to sign here ... have a nice day ...

If I'm driving over 150mph ... I keep it within the county (jurisdiction).
Like all other L.E. ... I give and recieve "Professional Courtesy" ... within reason ... I don't allow for 60mph in a school zone ... or other stupid **** ... and if your DUI ... well I better be in a good mood and have enough time to babysit your *** until someone can come pick you up ... can't afford the liability issues if I let you go ... other than that ... there's a time and place to let it loose ... cop or not ... just use common sense ...
Word to the wise ... all L.E. is really starting to crack down on Aggressive driving behavior ... Rush hour in the morning and afternoons are the target time frames for "air support" ... and you'd be surprised how many "MADD" mothers call in aggressive drivers on the cell ...

that's the beauty of the traffic citation ... any small erratic driving behavior ... could cause you to cross over the yellow line ... if you're not changing lanes ... well it's a possible sign of a DUI ... and gives me reasonable suspicion to check you out ...
and me being thorough (and pissed off that I see an improper and reckless display of an AMG badge with a total disregard and lack of respect for our fellow MB/AMG enthusiast) ... well now I must introduce myself to you and investigate it further ...
Be warned ... reckless display/perpetrating of an AMG badge in my town ... sign here ... have a nice day!

while i dont agree with the guys badging, based on your post, i honestly believe cops like you are jerkoffs and give cops in general a bad name. sorry to generalize and i dont even know you but ultimately pulling someone over due to a "total disregard and lack of respect for our fellow MB/AMG enthusiast" as you say is fuked up.

To answer your first post ... yes ... he was swerving not just once ... but repeatedly ... later discovered this was due to him writing info down with one hand and while holding the cell in the other ... since I'm constantly distracted by my own computer ... and not to be a hipocrit myself ... I also talk on the phone while driving ... that is why I had intended to give him a warning and let him go ... which I stated in the post ...
However, when I politely inquired as to his AMG badge ... to be fair ... I told him I also own a CLK ... he started getting defensive and beligerent ... I told him I was just curious because I own an AMG and was wondering about it ...
When he started to tell me he had the car "special made" at the AMG plant ... that was it ... so yeah ... I "stroked" him ... my bull**** threshold only goes so far ...
As far as being a jerkoff ... I will still serve and protect your right to say it. It's ironic though ... I'm always getting ribbed for not writing traffic tickets and here on this post I'm being called a jerkoff for it. Sometimes you just can't win.
