Black Chrome or Painted for the front grill
Hey guys,
I'm trying to decide weather to have my front grill painted black or should I have it done in black chrome. Which do you think would look better on a black W208... Thanks

I did mine in black chrome and it didn't look great. You'll have to find a shop that does colored chrome on plastic (not very easy to find). I ended up painting it.

This is a thread of what the grille looks like blacked out with a silver star...
as for your other suggestion, I think that would be an interesting look but I wouldnt go with it... you would be talkin about 3 different colors on your car and I am not a big fan... one reason I bought chrome rims was so that it would match the badging on the car as well as the grille and the MB star on the hood.
Hope you like your ultimate decision

I thought the black chrome would match the window moldings. If I paint the grill black should I also debadge the emblems on the trunk? If I get the grill black chromed and if it looked good I was going to do the same to the emblems on the trunk.

I guess where you go to get the black chrome done - u tell them to use the moldings around the window to be the example they try to recreate on your grille

Black Chrome grille would look stealth on a Black or Black Opal car. It's like using Black Chrome badging. I personally feel that the chrome gets attention while still looking classy. In addition, I think the contrast with the chrome on black "works". Both can look good though. Just remember black and chrome is the best color combo. Even a black Kia Sportage with 14 in. chrome wheels will drop jaws. Maybe I'm reaching a little.

CLK Grill - German Supplier
For any of you who are looking for a replacement grill, try www.verimexx.de
They supply replacement grills (see attached pictures) for various mercs, and the sportgrill for the CLK (W208) in particular, looks really good. Only 189 euros, which is very reasonable. However, they also sell some on Ebay (Germany), and I managed to purchase one for 151 Euros, a flat MB hood emblem for 15 Euros, and shipping to the UK for 25 Euros (you need to email them before if shipping outwith Germany), making a grand total of 191 Euros. Not sure how much this is in US Dollars, but it's only 137 GB pounds. ;o)
I will let you know what I think of this grill once it arrives (should be by the end of this week). Can any of you tell me how easy/difficult it is to replace the grill and hood emblem? Do any of you have instructions? (I don't want to damage anything in the process).
Thanks,
R1cey

Black W208 Grill Query
I think they would ship anywhere to be honest so email them info@verimexx.de (they have english speaking sales people). This company also sells these grills on Ebay Germany, and so I managed to save 40 Euros in the process (the grill costs 189 Euros direct from their shop). The quality of the grill is very good, and will be fitted as soon as I receive my flat AMG hood emblem. I'll post pictures of my car to demonstrate.

R1cey.
