How realistic are DUBs on the W208

okie dokie... As i've been tinkering with the idea of changing rims... i've been thinking about possibly running DUBs on the car...

any input? and recommendations as to size & offsets... and tire specs? Dronellis? CLKonDUBs? anyone who has experience with it?

Cause as it is now with 19s & lowered, it can be a relatively rough ride... how much worse will it get with 20s?

For those of you few elite members who've put dubs on the CLK... how "driveable" was it? my benzo is my daily driver, so, it needs to be usable...

by saying "DUBs" are you talking about the company DUB or just 20 inch rims. Your already killin em with ur carlsson 2/5's why would you want to switch them up. DUB the company would be something I would put on my escalade they don't belong on a CLK. Eww on that note I saw a 209 clk 320 last night with DUB trump spinners. EWWWW

i've seen a couple clk's on dubs.. not a pretty site.. looks too nasty and the car is way too high off the ground. if you really want dubs, trade the clk for an s class and slap some dubs on that

Piece of SH*T
The ride with 20"s aren't as bad as what a lot of people think. I had them on when it was stock height and when it was lowered. Ride was not much different. If you run the proper offset and tire size then they will not rub. You do not have a lot of choices to choose from in rims & tires unless you roll the fenders or get custom offsets which will cost more than your average.

I ran 20x7.5 225/35/20 offset 40+ lowered on H&R springs stock shocks with 30k miles on the vehicle I didn't want to roll the edges and I didn't want to fork up 4-5 grand if I didn't roll the edges so that's why I stuck with 7.5 width rim which was affordable at the time. You can go up to 20x8-9.5 that should give you an idea..If you need any help PM me and I would be more than happy to help you out.

Here is a link with photo's to my car when I had 20" wheels and info on the rims/tires..

Well, I guess I agree with CLKonDubs. His ride probably way much better(comfort) than my previous CLK W208.

hmmm you can get 20x8 at front with 225/25-20 Nitto NT555 and 20x9 with 255/30-20 Sport Continental type 2.with a good offset you can clear all the issues on the W208.dont go by pirrelli.remember that!

Alots of peoples using 19 inch right now..I mean everywhere..even Jap cars are now using 19 inch wheels.if you want to do different things then you can get that DUBS..Not alloy wheels anymore..hahaha

also depends how low do you want to go?rides still fine even u cut just 1 coils.mine cut too much buddy..front 2 and rear 3

So good luck again..just let me know if you have questions or help.just Pm me or dont hesitate to email me.

Hey bro, I did inquire about putting 20's on my car when I search for rims and tires to replace my stocks. The place I got my tires and rims, Sprewell Racing, did not recommend that I do so, although they could make them fit, due to the fact that my wheelwell is not suitable to accomodate 20's. It could fit but it might compromise the quality of the ride. So they recommended 19's just to be safe. So I went with 19s.

thanks guys for all your advice... going 20s was just a thought for now... i will keep it at that for now, but all your insight was most appreciated...

CLKonDUBs & Dronellis, both your cars look sweet with 20s...

slvrstar, yeah, Sprewell is just around the corner from my house (not literally)... they've done some things for me, good work, fair prices (most of the time)

I agree, good work (james is really good and knowledgeable), pricing is competitive - but will negotiate. Overall - good.

Rims are 20 x 8.5. Tires are 225/35 front, 245/35 rear... Front fenders rolled for $60. Vogtland springs dropped the car 35mm. Can anyone direct me to a good tint shop in the Southern California area?

honestly clkondubs I like your current setup a hell of a lot better than your old one with the 20's. IMO the 7.5's didn't fill the wheel-well enough. mmgrad I think you should stick with the 19's because you have the room for a 9.5 or 10 inch rear. That fills the wells in perfectly, and you have that beefy look from behind.

I agree. For a w208 with a Carlsson/Lorinser/AMG kit I would go with 19's with a 10" rear. I just wanted to be a little different. The Rieger kit with 19's would probably be too low for every day driving where I live.

I wish I looked at this post before I got my 20" lorinser D93 wheels. The rims have 255/35/20 tires on them now. I didn't wont to roll the fenders(no local place to do that) and get a new set of tires. I guess I need to sale them to someone with an S-class

Also I notice the wheels have 2 bolt patterns. Is there an adapter that would make them fit on my lexus? The rim has a 10 mm spacer screwed on the back. So my lexus studs (studs are made into the hub) aren't long enough.

Any help would be nice.

They might fit... IIRC all Lexus models are 5x114.3, with a 60mm center bore. If you go to a tire/wheel shop you should be able to find what you need.

I call everyone that deals with lorinser wheels and they didn't wont to help. They said " lorinser wheels are made for mercedes and they didn't know why the rim has the other holes" so they were no help.

Do you guys think a 20X9.5 will fit the front of a clk with a 225/35/20 tire.
