320 bumper removal

I was looking at the bumper removal instructions posted by JoshK and str8ridin.

1. You need to detatch the foglight splash shields from the car (you can leave them attatched to the bumper) using the screwdriver.
2. Using the 8mm, disconnect the 4 bolts around the head lights.
3. With the 10mm ratchet, remove the bolts on either side of the bumper where it meets the fender (near the wheel).
4. To access the next two fasteners, you'll need to remove the sidemarker and part of the impact strip (or remove it from underneath the car). They're elongated bolts with a 10mm head on either side of the bumper. Loosen them until they drop down but don't remove them from the bumper.
5. Finally, remove the front fan shroud and you'll be able to access the two 13mm nuts. Remove them.
6. CAREFULLY remove the bumper (it is advised to have 2 people do it so that you don't scratch the fender with the sides).
7. If you didn't disconnect the wiring and temperature sensor from below before removing all the hardware, then disonnect everything before you pull the bumper very far off the car.

Does the car need to be jacked up to take out the bumper? Do all of these screws and bolts need to be removed from behind the bumper? If so, I haven't done that...not sure if that's why I can't find some of the screws/bolts. On step 1, I don't see any foglight splash shield screw that can be removed...is this just on the 430 with the AMG front bumper? On step 2, I can only find one 8mm bolt on each headlight. I'll take some pictures later tonight...that might help you guys to better help me.

that would do it...

no, you don't need to jack the car up, unless you want to... i don't. and 1 person is sufficient to do the job...
yes, the all the screws that attach the bumper to car needs to be removed, but some stay hanging on the bumper
not sure if the 320 has the same fog light shields, but, the 430 has them directly under the foglights...

btw, if you haven't done so already, use a rachet style wrench to remove the screws near the fan, they are very tight in space...

hmm, on the 320, the whole area is taken up by the foglight so there's no "under" except under the vehicle. is the fan shroud attached to the car by two plastic clips? my sister went out with the camera so i can't get the pics up for tonight anymore

yes yes, the shroud is held by these two little plastic clips, a half turn will loosen it out...

however, once the shroud is removed, there are 2 large screws that hold the bumper in place, and those are very tight in space, so a ratchet style wrench is best...

yea, three things confused me - i thought the clear plastic was the "splash shield," my car doesn't have a fan shroud where it should be, and someone put 10mm bolts instead of 8mm bolts by my headlights. i'll put up some pics once my LEDs come in
