Should i buy a CLK430 or NOT?
I am very confused i am getting rid of my jaguar Xk8 becuase the re sale is terrible as is i will get nothing for it. But i wanted a new clk500 but i realized i could not get one for at least 6-8 weeks becuae i did not order one. and then my jaguar will loose more of its value the time it comes in. So to bad i did not oder the clk500 a while ago. but anyway i went to the dealer today and they had a nice 2002 Brilliant Silver CLK430 with K3 and K4 and i would get a pretty good deal on it well i guess its just an ok deal, but, i put a deposit on the car till friday because they said it will be sold over the weekend but i really need to know what i should do by then. My only concern is that it will look out dated and be nothing special when the CLK500's come out since i will be leasing it for 39 months and when the 500's come out i dont want people to think its an old car becuase when they see the 2003 CLK's they will give my new car no attention that it should deserve. But i need to know soon because i will only keep loosing more money on my car and i have to know by friday to get my deposit back or to buy the car.
Please help.
Please help.

My advice to you is........choose what ever makes you happy. You'r the one who's buying the car. To be honest with you, I saw the new CLK500 in person. I personally think it looks too soft and girlish elegant. The front facial is nice but the rear remind me of Honda's. I still think the '99-02 CLK430 looks much better. It's aggressive, musclar, and classy. Every where I go people always compliment me how beautiful the car looks. There's no doubt about it that '99-02 body will not die out fast. I'll just have to wait until they bring this body style back with some modification to the interior and a little wider body and also with beefy tires.
Hey.....the Cheverolet people bought the 1965 Camero body style back for the 2004 version. However, they made the 2004 looks so much cleaner, smoother, and with a touch of sharp edges. They still maintain the '65 body style at the same time. I think that's going to be a big seller! I just hope MB will do that to the '99-02 body style someday. Maybe when I graduate with a Master Degree in automotive design engineer I'll redesign the CLK by maintaining the '99-02 body style. Forget about the soft girly look.

Make sure you change the chassis while you are at it. I agree that the 98-02 body is beautiful (one of my all time favorite looking vehicles), but the chassis is so old and outdated.
btw, first camaro was in 67, and the style they are supposedly bringing back is modeled after the 69.

I was faced w/ the same deliemma. I put deposits at 2 different dealers for a 2003 CLK in early Feb.. Anxiously waiting for the car to arrive around Sept., a brand new, just arrived 02 CLK 430 w/ K3, K4, and Command come up.
Really don't know what to do. Finally, purchase the 02 CLK.....loving it

I don't think you will regret your choice. The 02 is very classy.
Plus I was adviced not to get the first year model....MB will do lots of modification and improvements in later years.
Let us know if you do get it this weekend, and of course post pictures to share your joy!

Thanks alot.
I picked up the car today and i love the car so much and i can tell right now i wont regret it. By the way i decided to buy it and not to lease it.
The only bad part was that i saw how nice and clean and shiny it was in the showroom, and right when i pulled it out, it started to POOR So i did not take pics of it dirty lol. I will wash it tomarrow and then take pics.

BlackC230Coupe,
You made a wise decision. I personally like the W208 body style more than the W209.
Did you get it from the Autohaus?

And i bought the car from Mercedes Benz of Ft. lauderdale. because it was the only CLK430 they had and i loved the color combonation. I went to Autohaus this mourning before i went to pick up the car and they only had one CLK430 and it was a burgandy (i forgot what its called) with oyster. And i personally did not like the color combonation at all. And they also told me that there not going to get any more CLK430's in, so then i asked if they had any C32's and they said they just sold the one they had 3 days ago. If it was not sold i would have probally bought that. And both dealer's told me that it would be a cupple weeks till they get one. So i decided to go to MB of Ft. Lauderdale and buy the Silver CLK430 they had there. And i was also happy that they said when they move to the new dealer they will give E class and C class cars as there loners. Probally to compete with Autohaus.
But right now i really do love the car alot, i just came in from my garadge after looking and sitting in it for about 10 minutes. And i feel i made a great choice.

Congrats on your 430!
Last week I test drove this CLK430 Bordeaux Red at Autohaus, because I wanted to see the power v my 55 AMG. What a coincidence!
Hope that MB Ft. Lauderdale lives up to their promises to you re perks -- remember that they are an AutoNation dealer.
I just love the many perks extended by Autohaus, Pompano - from free car washes, dinners, E loaners, etc...

You guys are lucky, I got my Orion Blue '02 430 at MB of Coral Gables (Bill Usery) back in April. All they give as a loaner are "Enterprise Cars", you know, the typical crap!!!
BTW BlackC320Coupe, how much did they let the car go for since you bought it so late in the year?? Any discounts??!! Just curious.

karl k - I know it is an auto nation dealer, but i have always gotten better service and prices from MB of Ft. lauderdale so i am very happy purchasing cars there. Belive me i would rather go to auto hause since its a closer drive for me. But i still may bring my car to auto haus for service. Especually since i spoke to my old service rep. and he said he would probally be able to give me an E loner.
By the way when u drove the 430 how different was it compared to the 55?

But, the seat was just as comfortable without all of the 5 various inflatable compartments. The first thing I noticed was the soft steering wheel. The pick up and handling is commendable; however, I did not really want to open it up because it had less than 1,000 miles on it - the bordeaux red 430. The ride was much softer. I really like/love the AMG all-around tuning.

Here are pics of my CLK430 i took about 60 of them lol but somehow only about 5 came out i think its becuase it was damp out and i took the camera out of my cold house and the lens was fogged. i will take better ones another day.

Wow!! That IS a beauty. It brightens up the inner city,- just kidding. Very nice digs!
Now take it easy for 1,000 miles, try to stay under 55 mph. I always get enthused when I see this beautiful CLK profile.
