A 2-Seater Roaster & A 4-Door AMG & 2008 S550
Those people put the "AMG" badges on themselves. As far as I know, the sports package has 2 "sports" badges on the sides.

The "Sports Package" was an older type of upgrade for MB. What was a sports package is really the AMG bodykit and wheels. Now, I don't think they still call them sports package but any ground effects upgrade from MB will use the AMG bodywork and wheels.

the U.S. spec CLK430 comes standard with the sport pkg so there is no "sport" badge on the side of the car. the CLK320 offers the sport pkg as a 4700 dollar option. if the CLK320 is opt for the sport pkg, it will have the "sport" badge on the side of the car.
the Euro spec CLK430 has no sport pkg to beginning with, but it does have the 17 inches rim instead of the 16 inches in the same style as the CLK320. so the Euro spec CLK430 opt with the sport pkg WILL have the "sport" badge on the side of the car.
but NO CLK430 have the AMG badge coming out of the factory. all of them are put on by the owners.
an interesting note is that in Europe, most AMG owners likes to debadge their car to have a clean look and most none AMG owners tend to put AMG badges on their cars.

FrankW, you dead right there. I had a friend with a BMW 318is. He put all sorts of kit on including a 325 badge. Conversly, I have a friend with a 55 AMG who took the badge off. He said "I know what it can do but I don't want everyone else to".

2002 CLK 55 AMG Coupe ;)
An AMG, is an AMG. Look at the genuine MB AMGs, at the OFFICIAL MB site.

There are only a few true AMGs,
but lots of AMG WANNA-BES!

...and another discussion to ponder:
What justifies an AMG badge?

Alot of people who have been in Europe (and are from Europe) say that owners of non-AMG cars who bring their cars to specific AMG shops and buy accessories, the shops will glady put the ///AMG badge on.
Even in the old days, cars with just ground effects would have the AMG badge on. It's just recently that some people think that a car isn't a real AMG if it doesn't have the engine mods -- all personal preference I guess.

thanks for the replies everyone.. i figured that the people added the AMG logo on to their 430's aftermarket but i just had to confirm....
to make a long story short.. a friend of a friend got a 430 and it had the amg badge on it...my friend was telling me that it was the AMG version of the 430 and when i told her there wasn't such a thing.. she started to defend her friend and a useless argument started.... I just wanted to get confirmation that i was right
women...i tell ya!
