Warranty info needed

I am buying a 2002 CLK 320 Cab. It has 19,600 miles on it. The factory warranty lasts for a few more months. They are trying to sell me on an extended warranty for $3730 for 6 years 100,000.

The company is Mercury Insurance Group.

Mercury has several plans, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. I don't know which one the $3730 covers, but it better be the platinum.

Should I get the additional warranty from the dealer, or buy it separate, or not get one at all.

Please help ASAP, as I am filling out the papers this weekend.

I think AAA uses mercury for their extended warranty stuff too. Try calling Lisa Lehrbaum at (800) 655-3535 or 530-230-3158. You dont have to fill out the papers so soon...check around first

Are you buying the car from an authorized mercedes dealership? If you are, shouldn't they be "certified starmark preowned" vehicles which comes with an extended warranty?

Not sure, It is from a Mercedes dealership. I am totally new to the Mercedes realm of things, so everything is new to me.

not every used car sold at a MB dealership is necessarily certified...

Found out that it is not certified-preowned. They said they went through all of the inspections, but not the paperwork.

They said they could get it certified and offer the warranty, and it would cost me $1900 for a 1 year 100K warranty, $2700 for a 2 year 100K, and $3750 for a 3 year 100K.

I am just thinking about going with one of the aftermarket warranties.

I would get the dealer warranty but try to negotiate a lower price since they are trying to sell you a car. You might be able to get a 3 year deal for 2 years or even $2500. But definitely, I would sleep better at night knowing my car is taken care of. Plus you can probably integrate that into your loan so you don't have to come up with extra out of pocket money. good luck and post pics. By the way, what are you paying for the car?

I am getting the car for $35,000 with 19,000 miles. I think it is a little high, but it is very low mileage. It doesn't have navigation, doesn't have the CD player or changer, has about everything else. It has the ash interior and silver exterior.

It's actually not that bad a deal, coming from the dealership, but definitely try to integrate the extended warranty into the negotiated package. I know I would. When are you picking up the car?

Warranty, a promise for money.

A few years ago, MSUSA gave me a extended warranty on my 98 ml320 (lemon). I didn't catch on until the factory warranty was up that they bought bought me a WARENTECH warranty. (Besides going backrupt) It was a hassle everytime. One time I had to wait three days while they sent out an inspector to make sure the worn out part wasn't a owner damaged part.
It was better than nothing and probably helped me sell the ML.
The clk430 I just bought has a STARTECH factory warranty to 100k. I somehow trust the dealer and MB are going to be better.
Read the fine print.

01' CLK 320
Remember to read the fine prints because there are many items not included in the extended warranty. I have a 2001 CLK 320 coupe and the warranty just expired in July. I thought of getting the extended warranty but I didn't purchase one because they don't cover everything like windows motors and regulators, sunroof motors etc.

My car also has very low mileage, about 23000 miles, and doesn't have any major problems (only fuel sensors were replaced due to high sulfur in gas). So, I am willing to take my chance and cross my finger!

patrick39, I am worried about the same thing. Although I think the policy Courtesy Motors in Chico, CA offers does cover things like sunroof and window motors as well as window regulators, fuel regulators, voltage regulators etc. I tried to compare the different coverages faxed to me and the Courtesy "Maximum Care" seemed to cover more stuff. The only unattrative thing is that it's pricey compared to the other offerings.
