OBD 2 Socket in the Car?
Is there a 16 pin OBD Socket in the car? I see a rectangular outline near the hood release but wanted to know if that was it?
Thanks
Thanks

That dorsn't look like it.
Mine is on the right side, under the steering wheel and right above the driver's side vent. It should have a covered plastic cover on it with a lip to snap off the cover.

I believe the OBDII standard is for US-market vehicles only, I however could be wrong. On my 98 C43 it's below the steering wheel, on the horizontal portion parallel to the floor it has a hinged cover on it and is readily visible.
Barflux, if I took the photo you took of the same area on my vehicle. It would be clearly visible, I don't think you have an OBD outlet on your UK-spec vehicle.

OBD-II standards say the port has to be within 3 feet of the driver, inside the cabin and needs to be accessible without any special tools... but I guess it's different for the UK. I've seen manufacturers hide the things behind flaps and ashtrays and stuff, so who knows...
