Tire recommendations/experiences
It's time to buy new tires and wanted to hear your experiences. I have stock wheels and I'm currently running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S--https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1235161&postcount=1219
Due to the amount of rain we experience on the gulf coast, I want a tire with good wet weather performance. I have been happy with the tires I have now but I'm open to others if they are better. Has anyone had any experiences with the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S? Their ratings on tirerack are a little better than what I have.
Thanks.

I haven't but will. Are they good in the rain--you should know in ATL.LOL Wanted something that has a good treadwear also. I have about 28k on mine now so I have been pleased. Did you see the post I did on the new dino TPC has? https://mbworld.org/forums/showpost....postcount=1219
That E-55 of Matt's is awesome!
I'll be in ATL in a few weeks, maybe we can hook up again.

I would highly doubt you're going to get 28K miles out of a set of PS2s. The treadwear rating is 220 vs. 400 on the Pilot Sport A/S.
Wet traction is supposed to be excellent on the PS2s, but I rarely drive the CLK in the rain. Michelin's website shows the "Pilot Exalto PE2" as being a good match for your car as well. It has a 240 treadwear rating.
I've got two cars going in for tires this weekend....going to stick with MXV4 plus on the 300CE and my wife's cabrio
Give me a heads up when you are planning on coming to town. We can at least meet for dinner, drinks, etc.

Yoko AVS Sports are great sticky tires, stiff sidewalls... but poor treadwear, and kinda gets noisy after halflife... quite expensive
Nitto 555 has a softer sidewall, noise is hard to compare due to a mixed set with the yokos right now, but the treadwear rating is great... and priced well

tires
I have tried Bridgestones, Yokos and by far the best overall is the Goodyear F-1. They are the best in the wet and are very forgiving in the dry. The price is the only setback I see. Tirerack has a very good comparison for each tire if you click on the image and look at the ratings.

hey danny or anyone with nittos, do you notice that the front nitto's are kinda noisy??
i just put the 19's on and i feel that they are noisy as hell....i had 18's with 225/40/18's falkens and they were very quiet in comparison...just wondering if this is common with the 19's nittos 235/35/19??

A best kept secret.
I did a lot of research and bought BF Goodrich Contact T/A's for my 2001 320 Cab..
Much better in every way than the OEM Cintinental Contacts.
They are owned by Michelin....check out the reviews on this tire at tirerack.com.
Best part was a set of 4, mounted and balanced at Sears was less than $400.

I've just put on Avons, a tire only sold by TireRack. I took off the Yokos that were on it when I got it (they were whining like a banshee. I was ready to give the car back) The Avons are very quiet, and wet weather response if great! the sidewalls are a bit softer, but the ride is fantastic. They took a bit of wearing in to make them stick, but after 1,000 miles they went "GRAB" and they've been fine on the twisties. Oh, by the way, they're cheap compared to all of the others talked about here. Read the reviews on TireRack.com of all of the tires before you decide.
BTW, I had Nittos on my Linc LS8, and they were singing after 10K miles. Kuhmos are worthless cause they wear like erasers.

PS2 vs. Goodyear F1
Just put a set of Goodyear F1 GS D3's on my CLK430 Cab. Fantastic in the rain here in Florida. Seems to be much less noisy the the Pilot Sports. Time will tell but so far very happy.

I am running with Kumho ECSTA ASX - ultra hi performance all season. excellent tires. I have a 18' staggered setup and the cost for new tires came out to be 526.00 minus shipping and installation. Very good traction, quiet and so far with 17K. Ask Luke his thoughts on these.

PS2 are only summer tires. PZero Nero's are all season, so its not really a fair comparision. I find the PZero to be the best all around performer, I'm picking them up for my 55. My friend has a 911 and drives like a maniac and uses them and he praises the tires, if its good enough for him it's good for me. Also the PS2 are significantly more expensive.

Nobody mentioned Hankook Ventus. I love 'em. A little noisy on the highway but I've had them for 15000 miles and they look like new. Lowered with no camber arms.

I like what I read about these tires on tirerack.com. Excellent ratings, I'm def going to order these next. Not bad for the price. Main thing I'm concearned about is the tread wear (8.0) and noise comfort (8.5).
