Pics of the chrome window trim blacked out..
Finally took some pics. Thanks King320 for the idea and directions. It's been 4 months and it hasn't even shown signs of wear! Gotta love electrical tape.

If you haven done so yet, check out the zainobros website and the detailing forum, esp if you have a black car.

nice mod... now that must compel you not to sell the ride...
rather, you should just get bigger wheels and that be perfect...

Thanks fellas! Oh, and the "paint liquification" (lowphat) is Meguires DACP and Yellow wax with Sonus Pads and a Porter Cable.
And the 19's will come....just have to find a good deal.

Don't really have that many, but here are two. And basically, if you clean the trim well and get high-heat/weather resistant electrical tape, it simply fits perfectly on the trim and wraps around to all edges.

Actually, King originally recommended TrimBRITE Blackout tape. It's specific purpose is to black out chrome moldings on cars. The adhesive is stronger as well. If you're familiar with electric tape, I'm sure you're aware that the adhesive will break down eventually in weathered conditions and become "goowy". You can get the TrimBrite from Amazon.

Thanks for the pics and comments. I dont have the chrome around the windows but for some reason, the black trim has turned to bronze. Looking at it in the sun, it is very discolored and I was looking to replace the whole thing. This on the other would be much better than replacing. Thanks

Mine has been on for a while and hasn't shown any signs of wear through countless rain, car washes and sun. However, I used Super 33+ Scotch Professional Grade Vinyl electrical tape.

If you do this mod tho, take into account the weather you're doing it in. I did my tape mod in the spring on a warm day and at night it got cold and the tape shrank a bit. Leave a little bit of overlap when you have to use more than one piece (i only needed 2 pieces per side, with the change coming at the back halfway through the sharp 180 degree bend in the chrome. I have to admit i had my suspicions about it at first but it holds up amazingly well and looks pretty decent. Also, i only blackened out the white crome part, i left the bronze/black part of the chrome exposed, i thought it looked more natural
Here's a pic (before i redid the side because of the separation, and before a little bit of trimming on the transition between the pieces to make it look more subtle). You can see where i taped and where i left the chrome exposed.

So if you apply the tape from the outer edge towards the door it will line up perfectly. Then cut twice at 45 degree angles and apply the rest of the tape on the back of the door handle. When you grab the handle, you don't feel a thing because the tape is lined up perfectly with the chrome on the back of the door handle.
