...just curious...

I noticed a lot of folks here doing mods to their CLK's and just wondered who has their CLK's in original facory condition and why?

Mine is still the same from the first day I pulled it off the dealer's lot. I just like the way it looks...complete...unaltered...genuine...and still the same way it looked when I first fell in love with her...back in 2000.

My 99' is still stock excpet for the tinted windows. I'm debating about starting engine mods on it or save for an e55. tough decision.

2006 SLK350
My 1998 CLK320 is stock except for wheels. I went up to 17" AMG monoblock (I just liked the old style on this car) a few years back. He'll only be with me until my SLK350 arrives... and apart from a few interior squeaks he's just as solid as the day he was delivered. Pics here

Mine is pretty much stock. All I have added is XM, remote radar, and Eisenmann performance exhaust.
Like you, I like the stock look for myself. I love the modded ones also but it's just not for me.

Not 100% stock, no.

I'm stock with the exception of tinted windows, illuminated AMG door sills, shifter, flat hood badge, tinted tail lights and euro-spec springs.

I didn't notice your shifter wasn't stock. Is that something new since I seen your car?

I got the sills off e-bay and I think they are the same ones that are sold by formymercedes.com (but I haven't seen those in person, so I'm not 100% sure).

When the install was done, the factory sills were removed (they are just stuck on w/doubled sided tape) and these were installed in their place.

looks good, nice and clean!

i see they gave you the brake light cutout in the tint in the back window. i told the guy not to give me a cutout when i had mine done and he gave me this whole long story about that he would have to remove the read deck and this and that.

to make a long story short he gave me the cutout, i went to go pick it up, i hated it, told him *** it, ill pay to have him remove it and retint with no cutout, then i came on here and found out you dont need to remove the shelf and theres a tool that can push the tint in front of the brake light, told him that and he made good and did it for free.

btw, what percent is that? 5%?

stock? Started modding the day I picked it up. I dont know when its going to stop! Like I said before, I have moditis. The only downside is any time I make a dollar it pretty much goes into my next mod (besides the important bills).

On a side note, I'd like to add the nav system, any ideas?

first you need to decide if you want to go oem or aftermarket. main advantages/disadvantages - oem allows you to retain the use of your steering wheel buttons and looks factory. aftermarket you get much better equipment but loose steering wheel button use.

in my old w202 c class (which didnt even have the multifunction wheel) i had a full aftermarket setup - 12 disc cd/dvd changer, screens, navi, etc. and i loved it. then i got my w208 and i could have easily put all that stuff in my new car but decided i didnt want to loose the use of my steering wheel buttons so steve (mbenznl) retrofitted a euro comand in my car.

dont get me wrong the oem comand nav unit is nice and it looks just like it came from the factory but in hindsight i think i would have rather have gone for the eclipse unit or double din touchscreen kenwood unit and had superior technology/dvd nav/etc.

do a search and youll see that this topic has been discussed a million times and you can also see pics of both options.
