CLK 230 KOMPRESSOR
Just sharing my Oldie but still goodie '98 CLK 230 KOMPRESSOR

I've been a member for quite some time now. I just thought I'd share my good ol 1998 CLK 230 KOMPRESSOR....

I was able to take her for a fun run to the northern part of the big island to SUBIC Bay (used to be the US Naval Base here in PI). I was able to still reach 210 kph (130 mph) without too much effort. I love this engine! Clock says she has 56,000 Kilometers (or around or 35k US miles). Bought the AMG Side Skirts from VIPCLK320 (thanks dude!). I installed 19" rims AMG1 design and 35 series AVON Tires from UK. Just sharing from this other side of the big pond! Cheers!

Looks great fullmetaljacket. The 19" rims, Halo headlights, and grill kit make these cars look awesome. I would just add the LED tails and some window tint, then it would basically look like mine. What are the sensors in the front bumper for?

Thanks for the complement. I had a not so nice experience with LED tailights on my bimmer so I thought I'd stay away from them with my C. After a few months I already got flickers and dead LEDs that turned me off. It was a good thing that the dealer replaced them under warranty.

The sensors are parking distance sensors. I have them on both front and back bumpers. Why, don't you have parking sensors on your 430?

The parking sensors must be a Euro/International thing. I love the LED tails on mine, no issues, they are not really expensive anyway. We also only had the V6, V8, or AMG options, no smaller engines or Kompressor here in the US.

The front lip does look a little rough, although I'm sure it's less noticeable from other angles. Other than that, the car looks great! Where did you take that second shot? What an great setting for a photo.

lovely red convertable clk 230

My W208 needs the front end repaired, would love to know if I can just get a replacement of the bottom lip of the spoiler like in walnut82's post and the section that is missing because the rest of the front end is in good condition.

Hi guys !

My name is Frank and I'm from Germany. I think I've a stupid question. In the U.S. you have these position lights in your front bumpers ( see picture below ). Can you please tell me or better show me a picture, what happens with the rear ? Is there also a position light, maybe in the tail lights ? I can't find anything about this.

Thx and best regards from Germany
Frank

Hi Frank:

Not a stupid question. Many cars that come to North America have different options due to our safety regulations.

Looks like our cars look the same as yours. Here in Canada (same as USA), we have the front side marker light and no rear side marker light similar to your picture.

Hi Shemm,

thx for the fast reply. So there is no rear marker, also not in the tail lights ? Some guys in Germany want to buy the U.S. tail lights, because they think there are rear marker lights included ! In the EPC is no description about the difference of the European and U.S. tail lights.

The rear lights look the same from the outside - there is a fog light included on the drivers lights inside, but not sure if there are other sockets used or unused. Is there anything you want me to look at or take pictures of in the rear light assembly?

Ahh - yes - I put on my parking lights and this part of the rear light doesn't light up. I removed the light bulb cluster and there isn't any provision for a light bulb in that part of the light.

Might be a Euro requirement. Here are some pictures of the light housing:

HI Shemm,

thank you very much for this pictures. Now I've found the difference between the european and the us-version. It is the square cutting in the tail light which I have marked in the photo. The light is to be seen by this cutting also from the side.
We don't have this cutting.
Sorry for the bad english !

Thx and best regards
Frank
