Question Honest Opinion Needed

Hey guys, I'm on the verge to sell my CLK430 and hopefully get a 2000-01 S500 Sport. Would you guys prefer the S class over the CLK? Supposedly the S500 0-60 time is 6.1 which is the same as the 430, so I know Im not losing out on power. Do you guys think the S class has a much more prestiges status over the CLK? Do you think an S500 Sport can turn just as many heads as the CLK does? OR should I just wait for the new E class to come out? Thanks for your opinions

99' SLK 230 & 01' CLK 430
I owned the 2001 Clk 430 so my honest opinion, i would pick the S500 "sport" over the Clk. But only the "sport" model. I don't like the look of the non-sport model.

That's a tough call. It boils down to personal preference, as usual.

My dad has a black W220, S600 non-sport. His car is definitely nice. The W220 and the W208 are different cars obviously. When I drive his car, it feels too big and the steering feels unresponsive, even with the ESP, ABC, etc. technology.

The W220 has a lot of room though, which is its own plus. The CLK has that young image. The S has the family man image, I guess.

Where I live, the W220's are sworming all over the place and I only see a couple of CLKs. In LA, I'm not sure what the model distribution is but I'm sure that either way, there will be lots of W220 or W208.

It really depends on what your needs are. The w220 is not a sports-car, however it is definitely a high-class luxury car. On the otherhand, while the CLK is sporty, it does not come close in comparison to the qualities that a S class has. What do you want out of a car? Size? Coupe/Sedan? Performance? Aesthetics? Family? These are all questions that would make people come up with different choices between the two. Personally, I love the S class, it just does not suit my driving style.

Hey Gizmo, we have the same color, trim and packages. I love it, why you wanna get rid of it.

Personally, I take the CLK430 over the S class. CLK is sporty, classy, and very eye catching. My mom drives a S class sport, it is a huge car and very common in L.A. No doubt that S class is luxurious and very comfortable, but COUPE is my preference over sedans.

I am 22, a huge S class is not my car for now. Maybe when I get older.

But choose whatever makes you happy is more important than what other people think........

Well, its obvious the S class is a better built car than our CLK's. But maybe the real motive to get rid of the CLK 208 is b/c deep in my heart I know it will become obsolete when the new 209's come out. No matter how "girlish" the car will look. It's still the "new" thing out. As Far as the S class goes, only minor changes will be made for 2003. Those changes I can live with but I cant deal with an entirely different chassis(209). And no, I do not have any desires to get the 209. I'd prefer the 2003 E500. Besides wanting the S500 Sport. Ive also been drooling over a Yukon Denali and the New 2003 H2 Hummer
Hmmmm decisions decisions.

2018 E400 COUPE SOLD -> Porsche Taycan 4S
comparing a S class vs. CLK is like comparing apples to oranges. if you want to get a sedan then get the S. if you want to have a coupe, then stay with the CLK.

I agree with LAMAY. If youre young and don't need the space, then stick with a coupe. Once the time arrives where space is a necessity then you won't be left with a choice anymore, you'll have to go for a sedan (unless you can afford both). I don't know how big the price difference is, but if that much money is itching to be spent and I didn't need the space, then CL is the way to go....

Of course, as Ben stated, your driving style also counts. I always see, or see more often, CLKs driving hard on the road than S classes. These cars cater to different markets and an S class is just not the type of car I'd like to drive hard. If I had an S class and I could afford it, I'd get a driver/chaufer and sit in the back watching DVDs and kicking back... hehe Chaufer's (sp??) should be an option on those cars
