W208 CLK Performance

Hey guys,

First post on here. Im from the UK and pretty keen on getting a CLK Cabrio.

Im looking at the 230K and the 320K, I wondered if you guys knew the following stats for these;

0-60
Top Speed
Average MPG

I wanna buy a black one with light interior. If I get 19' chrome on it, would I need to do anything besides just buying and fitting the rims?

I also wanna get it debadged and have the grill black, easy to do?

Thanks

B

Like the last person neither are available in the US and I am probably wrong but I don't think they sell a CLK 320 Kompressor anywere.

If it is just a CLK320 you are referring to in the US:
0-60 about 7-7.5
Average gas mileage 21 mpg

Debadge: Use a hair dryer and some dental floss. They are just stuck on. You can use some sort of adhesive remover to get the rest of the sticky stuff off. 3M adhesive remover does not damage clear coat.

Contact "speedy" from the other thread. Apparently he has a CLK200K w/ 192 hp and he can probably help you out with stats.

Only 21 MPG for the 320? I did a SoCal to the Bay Area R/T run last weekend. The trip home was mostly at 80 MPH, eclipsed the century mark a few times, and averaged over 26 MPG with the 430.

they have 230k, but not in the us. they don't have a 320k, just regular 320. the 320 does 0-60 in 6.9, not sure about the 230k.

There is no such 320K.

CLK 55 0-60 mph= 5.0 sec
CLK 430 0-60mph= 6.1 sec
CLK 320 0-60 mph = 6.8 sec
CLK 230K 0-60mph = 7.9 sec
CLK 200K 0-60mph = 9.5 sec

I wonder if the CLK430 could do 5.8 or 5.9 with just filter and exhaust.

That is some darn good mileage for the 430. I have attained those mileage numbers myself on the FWY, 26 MPG. That's usually if I am on the fwy for a long period of time like going up north or to Vegas.

Usually with a Street/Fwy mix, I get 20-21 MPG all day everyday. This means I can go 280 miles on a full tank (14 gallons before the light comes on).

Does the mileage seems odd for a car with three people and luggage? You’ve seen the photo, judge for yourself. That photo was taken AFTER I got home. After getting off the freeway and driving for eight miles across city traffic. It dropped from the 27ish area that it showed most of the way home. I will admit to this - while in northern California I jumped the border into Reno Nevada to see if any of the hoodlums who trained me at the Porsche training facility were still around. I was particularly interested in what anyone may know about MB HP tricks. Nobody I knew was still around, so Der Benz-o-matic is still a bone stock car.

'99 CLK320 Cab Kleemann SC
320k

I have a 1999 CLK 320 that's been Kleemann modified (supercharger and cat back exhaust). Your MPG are around 23, top speed is still at 145 (chip limited) but you get there in a hurry. The increase in HP goes from 216 to 325, add another 20 for the exhaust modifications. I haven't timed a 0-60 run but I can tell you I've suprised a number of AMG badged MB.

0 to 60, around 7 - 7.5 secs
Average mpg, on mine it's 29.7 at the moment, motorway, fast A roads, urban.
Top speed, according to speedo, 153 mph.

Edit: these figures are for a UK spec 320 clk coupe.

figs quoted by others are probably about right. I have the CLK 230K. Hey when u buy be careful, check that the cat is not screwed. Cost arm and a leg to replace. I'm currently trying to find a o2 sim that works for it so I don't have to buy a new cat. Also, before buying the car check that the charge pump is not too noisy as they will also cost alot.

In terms of mpg, its probably about the same as a BMW 325Ci. I have this too and the figs are neck and neck. They are diff now as I have made some engine mods to my 25. Hope this helps.! Good luck.
