CLK55 shifting question?

Hi guys. I just recently noticed that my 2002 CLK55 seemed to have a bit of a flat spot around 30-35mph. When I am driving around that speed and hit the pedal hard without the kickdown being depressed, it does not seem to rev very hard as opposed to when I punch it off the line or once I am above 50mph. I have thought about the MAF but the car idles perfectly smoothly and has tons of power outside of this "flat spot" rolling at 30-35mph. Off the line it takes off like a bat outta hell just like on the freeway. During these times, the car seems like it downshifts maybe 2 gears when I punch it. When I do this at 30mph, the rpm start much lower like at 2500rpm unless i hit the kickdown. Could this be that the car is in the middle of some cruising gear for economy city driving? CLK55 owners, plesase chime in. Thanks in advance for your answers and thoughts!

Have you tried the adaptive throttle reset?
Key to pos2 (don't start it)
floor the throttle and hold for 30 sec.
with throttle on floor, switch key to off, but don't remove, then let the throttle up
Remove key after 2 minutes...
I think that this is the sequence. Other readers should chime in...

Click430: Thanks for the response. I have not tried the adaptive throttle reset? Actually I have never even heard of it. I'm going to look in the manual then give it a shot. Thanks for your input

Chappy: After driving around the vehicle a bit more, I think that I may just a little too much of a perfectionist. I tend to notice every little thing about the vehicle and after reading the MBworld forums, frankly I think that I am just a bit paranoid after reading about all the MAF problems.
I drove the vehicle a bit more and notice that when I encounter this "flat spot" i am usually puttering around (reving at 1500-1800 rpm). When I hit the gas hard (without kickdown) it seems to downshift 1 gear and start reving at about 2500rpm's and obviously not pull when its like at 3500rpm+. When I punch it while i am driving say at 2500rpm's already and I punch it, it takes off like a bat outta hell. It seems reasonable to me that the vehicle is choosing a fuel efficient gear when it knows I am "puttering" around town. When I punch it right off the get go the car pull hard to XXX.rpm (can't really look at the gauge when I am doing this cause the road disappears too fast) there is no flat spot to be found.
Just my .02

Attached is a pic of my 02 CLK55.
Rims just went on last week. 18' Mono 2's with 235 and 265. Suspension to be installed next week.

Our cars are equipped with driver-adaptive transmissions. Perhaps it is still "learning" your driving style.

Congrats and welcome

Clkal: I have been thinking about it but kinda like the old school look of the emblem. Btw: Where is the best place to buy the badge if I were to switch?

Chappy: Thanks for the hospitality

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but is this adaptive throttle and shifting aplicable for a 99 430?

Yes, the driver-adaptive transmission was standard on your 1999 430
