Renntech Intake question

I recently picked up a Renntech CF intake (sorry for the ebay sniperbid blackbenzz) for my 99 CLK 430 and have a few questions concerning fitment. Will my factory 430 intake tubes fit with the new Renntech intake? I heard that the Renntech intakes had alot of commonality with the CLK55 intakes and wondered if I needed to get CLK55 intake tubes as the intake I bought did not come with them. I have heard that Renntech intakes aren't much better than the CLK55 intake but I do think they are superior at least cosmetically. Thanks in advance for the help! See pics below.

That was sure a good price, nice sniping work! The lower part of the box looks identical to the CLK55 intake including the oval intake ports (as opposed to the rounded rectangular ports on the 430 box), so you will need the AMG hoses. They are part numbers A1130900382 and A1130900282. I paid about $320 at the dealer for them, but you can probably find them cheaper if you shop around.

Thanks for those part numbers. I called the stealership today and got the same quote for the hoses so I am going to shop around and see if I can't find them for a better price. Problem was, they could not locate the intake tubes in the US and will have to be shipped from Germany if I order from the dealer.

Sorry bro! I thought you already had a CLK55 intake on your ride? I was going to buy it off you about a year ago because you were looking at getting the Renntech then. Looking at my ride yesterday and found out that that I have a busted motor mount so more $$$ to be dumped into the ride now to fix that!

You can use your existing CLK430 hoses for the Renntech.....the hoses will fit. No need to spend the $$$.

Thanks for the info. Blackbenzz, obviously not a big performance gain here, but was there an audible sound increase in the exhaust or intake? Thanks bro and have a good weekend

I actually felt a noticeable increase in power. Did not notice much of an exhaust note change (this was the first mod I did) but you can slightly hear a suction sound form the intake. Let me know what you think of it. I actually think the 430 runners wont fit, but it wont hurt to try it. Just got home from a nice benz meet I setup. Great start to a weekend

I used the 430 air hoses on my Renntech, no problems.

I got the intake installed on my car this evening and I was able to use my OEM intake tubes with a little massaging. The problem I found with the lower plastic cover is that it does not connect to the Renntech airbox. I have heard some folks use double sided 3M tape. Anyone else find another solution to connect the plastic lower piece to the airbox? The MB dealership was useless and their computer system didn't show how the front section clips to the filter housing. I still need to Dremel the area of the cover that sits near the oil filter housing in order to get the clearances right. Will get pics up when I get this done.

As for sound and performance, there was a very noticeable rumble in sound of the intake as well as a slight gain in performance, unless of course my "butt dyno" was just excited with the new setup.
