Lowering my car....
So, I have look through some of the old threads and stil have not gotten a definitve answer. The question is for my 2001 CLK430:
If using H&R springs what would be the best spring pads to use front and rear to get the most even lowering effect?
What are the spring pad part#'s?
With my stock suspension the rear squats ever so slightly in the rear, when I lower the car I would like for it to be more even front to back.

i have #2 pads F&R, stock bilstein shocks on 18" wheels.
the drop is pretty aggressive, but not slammed.
a fellow member has #4 pads F&R
as far as spring pad part numbers, do a search for 'spring pad' and you
will be able to find it.
also, get ready to spend some $ for a camber kit to prevent
premature tire wear. i'm calling up all those who are lowering their
cars to see if we can do a group buy to get speedybenz supply us.
he is very busy, BUT, according to many on the forum, supplies
a quality product that WORKS for a reasonable price.
i started a thread in the w208 section.
good luck....

Okay so I plan on adding 19's to the mix and was wonder what setup people are running with their 19's.
I would have 19x8.5 in the front and 19x10 in the rear.

I got 19x8.5's in the front, 19x9.5's in the rear. I have H&R springs all around as well as #1 pads all around. It looks good, rides good and I like it. Gotta watch out for those damn speed bumps and dips. Ill post some pics as soon as I detail my car lol. Hope this helps.

May be you should put #2 spring pads in the rear.

I like that set-up. I bought my springs from Brabus in Newport Beach and they also did the install. They included the spring pads for me, and they told me #1 in the Front and #2 in the rear. I am running OEM shocks and the ride is not as bad as one would think, it is actually very smooth. Hope this helps.

Sorry, couldn't resist. How much did you pick your springs up for and what made you go with them?
I tried to win some on ebay but got outbid when I was at church.

I called Brabus for a quote back in July 2003, and they told me they were on clearance (to make room for W209 product) and I think I paid around $275, plus install of $150, I think it was around $425-450 out the door, including the spring pads. I let them decide which size pads to go with and they went with #1 front and #2 rear.
If they weren't on sale, I would have gotten the AMG full suspension set-up for like $750.

Do you still have their number?
Did they align it to?

It on their website: www.brabus.com or look up Brabus North America, Newport Beach, Ca.
They did not do the alignment. For that I went to my local wheel/tire guy and got 4-wheel alignment for $89.

I did call them they wanted, $455 for them. Are they good enough to warrent the extra $200 over a set of H&R's?

I say Yes. The drop is perfect, nothing left to be desired. With authentic Brabus parts, you get quality and proven performance. I had H&Rs on my 01 Audi S4 and did not like them at all.
I really like the Brabus. Plus, not too many get them and you can sell them quickly if you wanted to in the future.
