M-B poor consumer ratings!
I find it interesting and disappointing that our cars are so poorly rated in the latest(April) issue of Consumer Reports. In some cases they are ranked at the bottom of the list. Whats more disappointing is that no American or European cars are even in the top 10. All Japanese!
I personally absolutely love my 430 but I guess we're a minority.

Consumer reports is based on the reliability of a vehicle, not whether people like it or not.
The w208 CLK kicks *** on style points but if you've ever owned Japanese vehicles you know why the rankings are the way they are. I've owned a Datsun, RX-7, Toyota, and Lexus and they collectively had less problems than my 430 has in just 18 months.
I like my CLK, but there are days that I wonder why the hell I own it. Then I look at it in the garage or in the parking lot and I remember why...

I agree. On the W209 Forum there are pics of the next-gen CLK and it looks really bad (although at this point those pics are still only a concept)
Quality is an issue that MBZ will have to continue to address. New designs and features are great, but Lexus/Toyota (about to be the number 1 automaker in the world) have shown that QUALITY products keep exisintg customers and add-on new ones.
That being said, our W208 CLKs are a classic design and are not as difficult to repair or maintain than some of the newer models.

CR not only reports on reliability of the cars, but also safety, crash protection, owner satisfaction, fuel mileage, accident avoidance, depreciation and on and on. In fact, CR posted 238 cars in the survey results for the owner satisfaction category. So they obviously report on owner satisfaction.

Pabulum for the masses, who buy mass pabulum cars....
I would never want to own a $25,000 car, period. I don't care how highly it rates or ranks with JD Powers, Consumer Reports, or Readers Digest.....
We own Benzes, and we know why.....

- Reliability Trends
- Best and Worst Used Cars (based on reliability)
- Detailed Reliability Ratings (more reliability)
- Ratings and recommended vehicles (there was only one that I could find with low reliability that ranked high: Ford Focus)
Show me one car that ranked highly in overall ratings that has poor reliability rankings...
But as I think we agree, if you like your car and can live with some problems, who cares?

We are actually pulling out of that low period now....the worst is over. Unfortunately not for the guys still driving the cars made in the dark period like mine, but the new S's are supposedly well built and Benz finally seems to have their stuff together. We'll be hearing this junk for a few more years....then things will pick up. All the while the new cars will be nicely built, just a huge lag in getting the public to come around once we have been labeled "worse than the Japs"
