Idle Vibration

Ok about a week ago I had a check engine light come on and my friend who has the diagonstics machine plugged it in and told me that the MAF need to be replaced which I did last night..now the vibrations arent so bad when im idiling at the light but they are still there..also my check engine light didnt go away, but I disconnected and reconnected the battery and the light hasnt come on since..but now I worried about this vibration when Im idiling...could my mounts be bad? any input would be appreciative. Also one more question, if the transmission fluid was a problem would it come up on the dash computer and specifically tell me that there was a transmission fluid problem or would it say check engine? I do not see a dip stick anywhere to check the tranny fluid...thanks again

If I'm not mistaken, near the firewall in the middle, maybe more towards the passenger side there is a dipstick tube with a cap on it but no dipstick. I don't know if that's the one to check the transmission fluid or not. Maybe some expert here can tell you more about it. I remember reading something about it a long time ago. I believe you need to buy the dipstick from the dealership parts dept.
My transmission gasket was leaking for about a month period one time. I did not get any warning light on my cluster.

Hey Spriro, was this on a CLK or on your C280?

ok well i come to find out that there isnt a tranny leak and my check engine light has went away after changing the MAF but I do notice that when the gears shift I hear a grinding noise only when it shifts but then after that there is nothing..to describe the noise is hard because its not loud and its a quick grind the same way the gears shift

Dealership may be your only choice. Lots of independents rip you off because they don't sell cars and don't have any incentive to have you return.

It most likely are the engine mounts.
