Make of the stock tires?

Hi All,

Yesterday, some #$%#$% cut my front and rear driver-side tires. I am currently ordering them on the net. Can anyone remeber the make and size of the stock tires? (I have a 2001 CLK 430).

Thanks,
Rob

Off the top of my head....

Mine came with Michelin Pilot Sport tires

Front: 225/45
Rear: 245/40

Not 100% sure, but it is something along those lines.

You can check out www.tirerack.com and enter your vehicle, they will show you the proper OEM sizes and brand tires(?) that came with your car. Their prices are quite competitive too...

I found the pilot sports very good but the goodyear eagle F1's have a great tread pattern also. I think for technical details the tyre and wheel forum is best to ask these questions. I know there have been threads discussing this

Continentals on my 99CLK320, and STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

I had one blow out the sidewall.. luckily at low speeds.. woulda' been a catostrophic failure at highway speeds.. one of those insta-multiple flip kinda crashes. Wasn't over inflated, no significant wear, no threads showing, no punctures. It just failed. Badly. Looked like somebody had cut a four inch gash in the sidewall.

I will never EVER buy that brand. Truly scary.

Why in the hell MB would put a two for the price of one type tire on a 40,000 dollar car is beyond me.

Regards,
