It looks like a Buick trying to impersonate a MB. What the hell were they thinking?

don't know if anybody else remembers this, but Mercedes did have a yellow prototype slk a while back that had those controls. The reason for this, was to show how throttle/brake/steering by wire could work. I believe I saw this on a MotorCar episode. All controls were done through the 2 controls on the door and center console. It was setup to be similar to how a plane is controlled. No need for pedals since acceleration and braking are controlled by the joystick on the center console. So, I don't know if these pics are fake or not, but Mercedes has looked into this technology before. Last I heard though, was that this would never be implemented since the US did not allow steering by wire.

I noticed the S headlights but not the SLK grill, hmm maybe they said what extra parts do we have laying around? I know!!! Lets make a prototype of ALL the extra parts we have...

But we dont have any tail lights? Oh just grab the G35 lights, those are popular amongst the JDM swaps... lets try it!!!

more like an un-evolved CL rather than a concept

This was a 1996 MB concept car called the F200 Imagination. Considering the W215 CL came out in 2000, I think it's safe to call this its grandfather.
