Does anyone know where I can get an aftermarket bracket? Or is anyone willing to sell theres if they dont need it??

I have a New One I'm willing to sell

Hey,
I recently got a CLK55 from PA. I live in NY and needed a front plate base myself. I went out and paid $120 from the dealer for mine.

I installed it and all was good, until I discovered about a week ago that there was a brand new one waiting for me with my spare in the trunk.

I'm willing to let it go for $80, and I'll cover ups ground shipping.
If not I'll try to get a credit from the dealer.

I've looked myself before buying all over the net and could not find one. But best of luck to you. If you want it, email me at wagie@aol.com

Is it silver painted?

What I dont understand is my dad has a 2002 S500, and the license bracket on that is a cheap piece of unpainted black plastic. This couldnt possibly be what the dealer charges $130 bucks for....

I have a CLK 430 Year 2000 and I got a class action law suit letter that MB did not provide a front lisc. plate with their cars. I didn't read the letter but I think MB of USA lost and are to provide free front liscense plat holders.

Did anyone else got that letter?

License Plate Holder / Base

The one I'm selling is Brilliant Silver, not black.

it matches the car perfectly.
But it is a cheap little piece of plastic that is perfectly fitted for the clk series.

I still have the receipt from the dealer, which I bought about 3 weeks ago.
if they lost a lawsuit based on this, I doubt they would continue to sell them.

I got that letter. You should be able to take it to your local MB dealer and let them know that you received the letter even if you did or didn't and they should be able to give you the bracket and install it for free.

Wow those are insane prices from the dealers for that bracket. I just recently put mine back on because I got pulled over for not having a front plate.

I also got pulled over by a motorcyle cop, but I deleted my front plate about half a year before I got pulled over.

Does anybody have a copy that they could scan and put on here? Was it only for the 2000 model or are all w208 years included?

I'm definitely checking my trunk tonight to see if theres a holder in it. Right now I have a front plate on the car but it was sort of a custom job. It would be great if someone could post the letter too as I would love to get my hands on an authentic MB plateholder. Thanks.

Help attaching?

I found my front holder in the trunk but I don't know how to attach it. It looks like it has something to hook it on...there are no holes drilled in my bumper. Do I need to drill holes or is there another way to attach it? Can someone please explain to me? I have only 4 more days before my fix it ticket turns into a $100 fine! Thanks!!

You have to drill holes in the bumper and screw the bracket in....I was too scared to mess it up so I went to the dealer and they did it for free!

I have a 2002, and also received a class action suit letter. I think there was a time frame to get the frame, and at least on my letter I'm almost positive it's past.

Don't know if it will work on our cars, but I saw something on another forum for an Audi TT and magnets, maybe for those who don't want to drill this may be an option.
