Any interest in custom c/f hoods?

OK guys I'm working out a deal with a guy out in Cali to have some custom c/f hoods made for our clk's. They will look like the M3 GTR hoods. Heres a link for those who dont know what that looks like http://www.vorsteiner.com/vrs-hood.html The price depends on what material and finish we decide to go with. In order to get this started I need to know whether you guys woud want very light and strong material (like the ones used on Saleen S7's and ferrari's) or you just want something like the VIS hoods. He said there is a big price difference. I also need some people willing to put down ~250 deposit (which will go towards the final purchase price of the hood) to get the mold made. Also, if there is anyone in Cali who will be willing to donate their car for a day or two to test the fitment of the hood, you will be offered a discount on the hood. I KNOW you guys want to do this! If we get this to work then I can work on other c/f pieces being fabricated as well.

i have no problem donating my car for fitment purposes. I'm in So Cal, my clk has been sitting in my garage for the past 6 months anyways. How much is the price on the hood...cheaper material vs. heavier material??

Cool. Thanks for the offer. I might have to take you up on that. I emailed the guy and I'm waiting on the response to the question regarding material.
wnycec- Well, what did you have in mind? If you have a better idea we can go with that.
Everyone else-I'm trying to get estimates on prices before we get this project going. If someone thinks they can come up with a better design feel free to express your opinions. After all, we all want whats going to look best!

Ok well heres the response I got word for word:
"The fitment will be exact, no question asked. If you'd like you can have your guy come & look at some of my parts to see how perfect they fit & how light they are. My 500E fenders that I make are less than 3lbs (stock is 15lbs approx.) its so hard for me to just spit out a price, but I can tell you the price from a "wet lay-up" & "Vacuum bagged" is almost double; & the louvers will be a tricy peice because I have to custom make & that I don't even know how much labor it might involve. Lets just say (not solid, but a guesstimate). a wet lay up might be around the range of $1000.oo just a guess. might be a little less or more. But around that range. "
So basically he's saying a wet layup is around 1k and I guess vacuum bagged is 2k! Those prices dont include the price of the mold we need to have made and shipping. I say we go with the wet layup, 2k is too much to pay for a hood.

Group buys must be approved by the administrator of the website. Please submit your group buy intention to webmaster@mbworld.org that way it'll be officially recognized. Until that happens I'm closing this thread and I ask you blackbenzz to not cicumvent the official procedure. Thanks for understanding guys.

One thing I suggest is perhaps try checking with a sponsor to see if you can get a group buy going on a CF hood, I know Euroteck does lots of custom CF stuff, just a thought?
