K&N air filters

'00 CLK430
K&N air filters
i was thinking about getting these filters for my '00 clk430. i was wondering if it is worth the money or if they will mess up the engine. i have had a mechanic tell me that they don't filter the dirt well enough. what do y'all think. tia

I can speak for your mechanic but I've put a significant amount of miles on engines with K&N filters and haven't had any issues. A problem with these filters on our cars is that people tend to overoil them and the oil tends to cause failures in the mass air flow sensor. Provided you don't overoil, they work great and cut costs since they are reusable. My stealership out here in Manhattan Beach sells them in their parts dept.

No problems here.
I've used them in three other cars over the past three years and put them in my CLK430 (two months ago) without any problems.
I have found that they increase gas mileage and noticed some acceleration improvements.

I've mounted on mine 2 sport air filters...
I've dismounted the stock air filter (and his box too) and installed one sport air filter to the admission in the engine and another to the admission of the kompressor (200 kompressor). It's like crazy! It passed 2 years without problems... Go for it, the maximum rpm will raise and the sound... Yeah!
