Warped rotors after 8k miles

Here's the story. I bought the 430 last May from a private party. To pass inspection it needed front rotors and pads, which the previous owner paid for (I dont think the work was done at the dealer). After 8,000 miles, the rotors are warped and shake like mad during highway speed braking. I know this is not normal, and that rotors should last at least 25-30k right?

I am going to replace all four rotors with OEM (non drilled) Brembo and OEM Pagid pads. My question is, could something be wrong with my brake system that will wear out my next set of rotors in 8k miles? I was assuming that the current rotors are just cheap and thats why they are warped already. I dont drive like a maniac, and 75% of the time Im driving on the highway, so I dont thing abuse is the problem. Any other problems that could be causing this?

By changing all four rotors and pads, and flushing the brake fluid, I hope to take care of the problem.

Replacing your pads and rotors should take care of your problem. If your going to flush your brake fluid, might as well get some ss brake lines.

I know replacing pads and rotors will fix the current shaking problem, but does anyone know if there could be an issue with another part of the brake system that would wear out the new rotors in 8k?

Thanks!

Hey, i had a time on my e300 with the same problem. I talked to a mercedes tech and he told me that premature warped rotors are most likely due to a moron on a air wrench putting lugs on the wheels. Apparently if the lugs are over tightend beyond spec which happens alot with air wrenchs then the rotors will warp and therfore also destroy the pads with uneven wear.

This is very true and happened to me!!! I had to replace the brakes and rotors and made sure that the bolts were torqued to spec the second time around and I have never had a warped rotor again!!

I got 40K+ miles out of my first set of pads and rotors....mbenzman said I still had another 5-10K left!

+1 on making sure your bolts are torqued to spec.

Thanks!

Yes. A sticking brake caliper can also be the cause of premature rotor warp/wear.

this makes so much sense to me now. i had my rear tires replaced and shortly after that started feeling pulsing when stopping. the lugs were in fact over-tightened!

2015 S550V
Hi Everyone,

Wow, I would have never even considered that over tightening the lug nuts could impact the brake rotors!! I did have a front tire replaced and the front tires balanced between when I bought the car and the time I felt the the car shimmy due to the warped rotors.

Does anyone have the torque specs for the front and rear lugs of a 2015 S550 they could share? I will be tagging these specs on the car for future reference. I will also be mindful of non Mercedes outlets fixing things on my S.

Thanks
