Ipod jack in glove box?
OK just got my 02 CLK 55 and found what looks like a 3.5mm jack on the right side of my glove box. Can anyone tell me if that is just some kind of grommet or did the prev owner put some kind of hook up in there? Sorry for such a newbie question but first one I have owned.

Well that worked very well and sounds great. I am not so concerned about controlling it through stereo. I would like to know if there is an adapter that would plug in to the 1/8th and have the power/output. That way I could charge and play vs having to plug in to sig adapter.

Does This Exist on Non Nav Systems?
I just saw this post and haven't been able to examine my car but does anyone know if this jack is available on a 2001 CLK55 which doesn't have the navigation unit? I have the regular stereo (CD, Tape, Radio and Phone). Thanks in advance.
I have not been able to hook-up an MP3 player connection because the tape adapter doesn't seem to work and the FM frequency systems are crappy to say the least. Any solutions would be great.

Don't know as this is my first MB and it was a fluke finding it. Funny thing is I actually read the manual and no place in there does it talk about it.

Thanks for the heads up on this input jack! Almost spent several hundred $$$ for a direct connection to the radio. FM transmitters will work but the sound is affected. I compared the sound with that of a CD and there is very little difference. Funny thing is that at the MB Dealer they never mentioned to me that I had that port and much less that I could connect my IPOD to it.
They just offered the very pricey adapter $$$$.
Thanks again for the info...

Run a male to male wire from your MP3 player to that jack and Use the Auxiliary mode on the car's stereo and viola, you can play the MP3 player through the car stereo. I use it almost every day.
It's a "line in" to your Car's Stereo.

I still wonder is there any way to run RCA from the head unit for AUX for non command units.
