PROBLEMS with MBZ CD-changer
I loaded up the cd-changer finally and was listening to them while driving this weekend and I noticed that almost EVERY LITTLE BUMP in the road made the CD skip! Any of you have the factory cd-changer have this happen to you??? or is mine defective? Help!
all-in-all, i've only had a cd skip once, and it was a pretty hard bump. i like how the cd's change oh-so-fast too.
its under warranty. if you mention it to your service advisor, and if he's cool, they might just swap it for a new one for you, thats how i got a new head unit and a new amplifier too
good luck!
The purpose is to prevent damage to the mechanism during shipment (being dropped and so forth) as it has a springed suspension.
Normally it should be pretty resistant to bumps - except for really sharp bumps, bad railroad crossings and potholes - there's lots of all of that around here...

This changer is very well "ruggedized" and should NOT skip.
The only problem I had, was with GOLD-metallized CDs, - they just won't play.
Mine skips like MAD. Every single small bump and it goes skipping. Where are the screws at? Where is the switch for horizontal/vertical?

The holes left by removing the screws have these black self adhesive paper stickers to keep dust from getting into the mechanism.
I don't recall anything in the instructions about or horiz. or vert. switch. On the W208 cars, the changer is vertically oriented in that well on the passenger side well between the wheel well and the back end of the car.
Unless you've got a defective changer (which is possible), these things seem to work pretty well...
