My CLK wouldnt start, need help...
ok guys,i was wondering if some of yall could help me out. about a week ago, i turn the key to start my car, and i hear the starter start up but it just keeps on goin and the engine never turns on. so i take key out and try again, this time it starts.
well tonight i was pumping gas at chevron, and i turn the key and again i hear the repetitive sound of the starter cranking but the engine never turns on. i try again, and nutin. i wait 10 min, and same thing. it wasnt the batter cause all lights work. checked fuses and everything is good. wait another 15 min and try again with no luck. me and my friend finally push the car by the water and air hose. after about 2 more times and some prayer, it finally started. i dropped my friend off and in no way was i gona turn off my car again. any ideas on what it can be??? im getting fed up with this clk and selling it to get a RELIABLE car is on my mind. thanks in advance with the help

The problem sounds like the "CPS" crankshaft position sensor. Its only like 40 0r 60 bucks I think and is really easy to change.
This also happened to my 430 but then it got worse. Your car will also die while its running sometimes. Do a search and you will find the HOW-TO, pictures, and even part numbers for this.
Do not sell the car!!! These are good cars just have some trials and errors every now and then. Hope this helps!!

you are most likely right. i been reading about the cps for the last 30min on here. i hope its not the fuel pump or something more expensive. one thing that i didnt experience however, it that once it turned on, it didnt turn off on me. i drove it for 30minutes at 65mph to get home. i know for sure engine got Hot, but it didnt shut down. and i been reading that if its the cps,it suppose to shut down?

Well mine did not shut down for at least a month after I started getting the symptoms so dont rely solely on that part alone. I still say its the cheapest, easiest and most probable solution so its worth a shot.

It also happened to me twice
The same problem happened to me two weeks ago. I tried to start the engine few times but failed to. The starter worked very well then. One hours later, I tried again and it worked this time. Then I drove to the service shop and they did the replacement of CPS for me. Unfortunately, it happened again this evening and it could not be started even I have tried around ten times.
I tried the next day. Still failed.
Anyone has other advise? Thanks a lot.

ok 2morrow im taking it in to my independent benz shop. guy is goin to charge me 40 labor, and around 100 for part. so total should be no more than 150 to replace cps. he said it sounds like that is what the problem is. he said he can diagnose for an additional 80 dollars to make sure or he can just replace it without diagnose. so im not gona pay an extra 80. i really hope this fixes the problem.

Here's a thought. Could it be the ignition key going bad or worn? Because I've looked at some of the others having problems, and it seems like when the key has been removed and re-inserted into the ignition and then it 'works' again (as opposed to the car cooling down as you would with a bad CPS). Maybe when it's re-inserted the key is then in a position where whatever 'code' in the key fob can be read better. I have to emphasize that this is just a guess!

^ haha u got jokes but na, that video was done a year ago. anyways, i decided the skip the benz shop and do it myself. the mechanic even said he is almost sure its the CPS from the symptoms. i just ordered my CPS for $70 shipped from autohaus AZ. bought a set of e torx (e8). it took me about 15 minutes to position the socket and get the right amount of space for wrench. once it was loose, stuck my hand in there, and for about 2min unthreaded the bolt little by little (you must have patience). im expecting the new CPS to arrive 2morw or the next day. i feel good about putting it back, so it shouldnt be a problem.
Thanks to everyone on here for the help and advice. I REALLY appreciate it. so changing the CPS is only goin to cost me about $80, which is great. i recommend if your CPS has been used for over 100k miles, change it before it goes bad. you dont want to get stranded like i did.
so all the stock CPS are defective?

sup guys, part came in today from autohause az. i highly recommend them for quality service. anyways, i replaced the cps. i already had removed the bolt so all i had to do was replace and thread back that small bolt. to my surprise, it took me less than 5min! i got lucky with the first try! to every1, this is a definite DIY. dont waste over 200 at stealership. i took it out for a drive, came back and turned it off. then turned it back on and everything seems fine. i hope this does solve the problem. again a huge THANKS to everyone here for there help and advice!
