Rear Wheel Spacers Help

Does anyone have just some small 5-10mm spacers on the rear wheels? If so, can you just put them on and slide the wheels on over them? I want to bring out my rear wheels just a tad... any advice appreciated!

Thanks clkal.

Thanks acb. Can I ask you one more thing, did you have to replace your bolts or anything like that, or did you just slip on the spacers and then put your wheels back on? Do you think its something I could just do in the driveway myself? Thanks again!

It depends on the size of your bolts. Proffesional installer told me if you can get 3 full turns on the bolts with fingers you good to go but if you cant them you need longer bolts, I hope that helps.

but can you fit the spacers yourself or does it have to be done at a mechanic?

You just place them on your hub, but make sure your getting hub centric spacers, H&R or Eibach and they come with the longer bolts. German car wheels have to be resting on the hub, other wise its not safe, and will cause shimmy or vibration, and you may eventually find yourself chasing your wheel down the highway.

so there is no drilling or such like required - is it as simple as just placing the spacer on the hub and then replacing the wheels?

Current: AMG GT-C. Sold: 01 CLK55, 00 ML55, 01 ML55, 06 E55
Very simple, it's literally a spacer. You just make sure it aligns and put em on. FYI, my 19's offset 40 rear w/ 10mm spacer on each side worked fine w/ the factory 17" AMG lug bolts. It will depend on your wheels tho.

my wheels are aftermarket and as we discussed earlier am going to go for the 10mm hub centric spacers - are the ones that eibach sell hubcentric? Also I cant beleive you cannot get 5mm hubcentric spacers as that would have beeen ideal for me!?!!

oh well......

Eibach's are hub centric, and if you only need 5mm, then i think you should still have enough space on your factory hub to rest the wheel on.

will there be any rubbing issues if I go with the 10mm spacer on the rear, since my rear offset is ET35. Also thinking about changing my front pads to #1 and leave the rear as stock or change it to #2. What do you guys think, bearing in mind i will be putting the spacer on to the rear?

I recieved my 10mm H & R spacers and when I went to put them on the stock 12 x 1.5 length 40m bolts were not long enough. So I just orderd a length 50mm extended bolts since what I added was a 10mm spacer. So I would recommend for any of you that have anything bigger then an 18' rim to go with bigger bolts just not to big. Just some info for those that haven't done this before and don't do the same mistake I did.
