Extended Warranty
got a quote from the dealer for extended warranty on my 2000 CLK430 at 19,000 miles for $2800
it covers :
yr 2008 or 100,000 miles whichever comes first
0 deductible
is this a good deal or should I call a couple more places ??
thanks,
Bansasn
for the same price, you should have opted to get the factory extended warranty when it was still available to you as an option. its also about $2,800 for an extended 7 year or 100,000 miles, but much more hassle-free
so, for those who didn't buy the extended warranty when you picked up the car, if you plan to keep the car, buy the extended warranty before the 1 year anniversary for your car is up.
just my .02¢
There are third party, or external, companies that will provide the warranty except some regulation is barring them from providing the service in California. It seems like the dealerships got together and arranged it so that only the dealerships can sell the warranty. I was told this by warrantygold.com, I believe, and they had a much better price compared to the dealer except it wasn't available in California.
she did mention that many W208 owners are doing the same thing :p

To extend:
5 year, 100,000 miles = $1,600
6 year, 100,000 miles = $2,200
7 year, 100,000 miles = $2,800
These are the 3 options available, the prices are what I vaguely remember, but not too far off.

Try 1 Source Auto Warranty 888-905-5700 x 147 ask for Pete. They can sell in California. I paid $2199. for 60 months 100,000 miles zero ded. on my 99 320.Tell him Jeff Skolnik referred you.
extended warranty works a little different than factory warranties, for instance, it does not cover consumable items, for example, if the HID bulbs went out, its not covered .....
I will see if i can pick up a contract and see what it says ....
