Double Din Kenwood pics!
#26
I'm definitely doing a double din install soon. The only thing that is missing to make the install perfect is a burl, birds eye or carbon fibre fitment kit to make it one with the rest of the dash. There are several companies producing wood trim to our cars, someone should try to convince them that they need to start producing a wood/carbon fiber double din fitment kit. There should be a good market for this. They produce all sort of useless wood trim, why not make something that is usefull and that people actually would want buy.

2000 CLK 320 Drop Top
I plan on installing my Eclipse AVN5500 this weekend. I'm pretty good with installations. I'm no professional, but I've done quite a few of them! This will be my first time installing a HU on a benz. I have a wiring harness and anteanna adaptor. Is there anything special that I should know before I do this? Also I think my unit has the connection for the steering wheel controls. Has anyone hooked theirs up to the steering wheel controls?

Here is the Alpine IVA-200. I also had to remove the little piece between the stock radio and the little pocket below it. Very happy with it. I was able to find a guy who cound convert any picture to a wallpaper and I used the MB logo. Many people think it is factory.
Does your steering wheel controls work?

I was told by CarToys these double din systems are not compatible with the MB Bose and that all my speakers would have to be switched out on my 2000 CLK 430. Also that none of my steering wheel controls would work. I was looking at the Kenwood system but he said all of them would nuke the Bose speakers. Opinions?

What kind of car is yours? Just went to Earmark audio and they told me the same thing Cartoys did - factory system is fiber optic and there is nothing that will work with it without replacing everything. I like the factory system, would just like newer navigation system and a DVD player for the kiddos...

Head Unit -> Pre-Amp-Out -> Bose Amp...
that's for the audio - the head unit shouldnt be directly connected to the speakers (not with fiber optic connections either)
please correct me if im wrong

So I'm putting in a 7in double din, how do you remove the center divider and also how do you wire in the CD changer? Help asap and pics would be great too.

Hi,
Does anyone own the Kenwood DDX9703S double DIN head unit?
It's the best rated Kenwood on Amazon and after reading many reviews I've decided that's the one I want.
Other than the annoying legal notice and maybe the price I couldn't find any issue about this head unit.
What do you guys think is this the best choice or are the better alternatives out there.
Thanks!
