Clk Problems!!!
1) noticed that the passenger side seat will not fully move to its most rear position. it currently retreats to a position that is still more forward than the driver's seat at a normal driving position.
2) hot day here in so cal. usually raise the rear sun shade when i leave the car in the sun. leaving work today, it decides to stay up.. .. forever... not a hint of slowly breaking down... just stopped working.
i am much calmer as i write this post because i had lost the ability to speak english without using the f word exclusively.
any suggestions??? anybody else have this problem. .?? i am slowly realizing this means another trip to the STEALERSHIP....
Good luck
i dropped the car off first thing in the morning. my service advisor calls me around 11am to tell me everything is ready. i say great and make sure its washed.. i arrive around 4pm, return the rental, and pick up the car. as i am about to drive off the dealership lot, i check out the passenger seat. not only is it not fixed and just the way i left it , my car isnt washed either. its actually more dirty than when i brought it.. muthrphkers....
now, i have to take it in again tomorrow and the service advisor ensures that it will be torn apart and fixed... yeah right....
now i can understand how people can go postal....
Listen to my story, I took my car to the dealers to get my sqeeking seat fix, left it there on Friday, my service adviser told me to come back on Thursday....
I went back on Thursday, and they can't find my car, they got no record of my car ever being droped off!!!!
So now the whole dealership is looking for my car.... and the security guards too!!!
S after about 40min they came back and said that they really don't know where the car was, would I mind walking throu the lot with the security guard and see if I can locate my car...
Well, I found it in 5 mins... It was just the way I left it and 100 times dirtier, since they left my car outside...
Now that we found my car I thought FINALLY i can leave, but wait!!!! Since they had no record of the car ever being dropped off, NOTHING was done to it!!!!
So at this point I just about had it, I left the car here for almost 1 week, without a rental, and now they are telling me it's just been setting there...
So to finish my story, the night manager had a talking to, cause apperently, he was suppose to check every car in the lot every night to make sure they belong there, obviously he did not do hios job FOR 6 DAYS!!!!! And I ended up leaving my car there for 3 more days....
Needless to say, I am no longer going back to that dealer..... rather drive an extra 25 mins to the next closest dealer than to leave my car to a bunch of incompetent people that did not even know where my car was....
thats damn disappointing to here.... dont take your care to penske anymore in west covina... that stealership sucks there too! i take my car to rusnak in pasadena usually. to their defense, i have usually had fairly good service until this visit. i guess its the law of averages.... they are opening a service department in arcadia. that might be closer to you.
pete,
my service advisor said they resynchronized the seats, because they claim that the seat stops when its movement backwards is inhibited or blocked, it will stop, so it wont crush someone's legs. i said i dont care, just fix it. now i must get up early again tomorrow and deal with more sh$t from the STEALERSHIP..
lesson:
its hard to find be you can trust in this world and its even HARDER to find people that are COMPETENT....

Oh well... guess I just gotta take my money some where else...
Rusnak is pretty cool, when I had my A4, that's where I took my car to. Never had a problem with my A4 there... even though it was heavely moded.... they still took it and worked on it, and used my warranty... no excuses, they don't try to blame it on my after market parts. That was the cool part with Rusnak.

lots of issues of 'stolen cars' from the lot, and lots of people taking customer cars for 'joy rides'. and the usual petty theft from customer cars.
so, word to the wise, keep a close watch on ur odometer and clean out your car before taking it to this dealer... or else, someone there might clean it out for you
I live out towards the Aracadia Rusnak too, but I take mine to the one at Santa Monica, W.I. Simonson (close to work)... the people there are great, problems always get fixed, no theft issues... only thing to complain about is that they don't have much MB loaners available, get stuck with a saab or domestic sometimes
oh, and i swear the CLK seat doesn't stop when moving back given an 'obstruction'... i know the CL does, haven't really noticed thw W208 being capable of that. i know it doesn't stop when folding the seats forward... hmmm
took the car back in today and came back around 4pm. the technician said he was working on it all day. there was still no clear cut source of he malfunction. the seat problems was finally fixed by unplugging the passenger seat controller module and thereby erasing all the memory from the passenger side seat. the technician hypothesized that the seat had stored the incorrect default settings and could not move back far enough.
was the problem fixed? yes, it was, but took an unnecessary two full days. was i pissed off? yes! did they comp everything in the end? YES! that still doesnt make up the amount of time i waited at the STEALERSHIP. the ONLY thing that made me feel better was checking out a SL 55 in the showroom...... [sigh]
at least it is all over... until next time.

took it to the dealer, they lowered the idle just a notch... but still no help
its not very rough, so i try not to let it bother me. anyone else who has had this problem found a solution?
Sorry to hear about your problem. I normally visit Rusnak almost every week. Since you now mentioned they have an SL55 might be dropping there this saturady to check it out and give myself a good laugh at how much oversticker they are selling that car for!

they have that SL55 in the showroom selling $70k over the window.
Silver/Charcoal, KeylessGo, pretty much all the options.... it has those new AMG SLR230 rims... very very nice...
as for the sl 55 amg, it was black/ash and i dont remember if i saw a sticker, but it was in the showroom.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention... while i was at W.I. Simonson in Santa Monica picking my car (got it detailed), they too had a SL55 in the showroom. but its SOLD, still nice to look, it was unlocked

is the SLR230 rim the multi spokes? all three SL55 i have seen so far has the 18 thin spoke instead of the 18 multi spoke that i thought that comes with the car standard.
Here is the SL R230 rims borrowed from www.wheelexperts.com, i think these are very very nice, esp. since the SL55 is the only car that comes standard with it.
compared to the AMG CLs

the most annoying thing is, depending on the position of the passenger seat, the headrest actually hits and rubs against the passenger sunvisor... oh well, by the time I catch it, its already too late...
unless u have the head rest erected all the way up there...
my idle is a little rough too... esp for a MB

try idling without anything on (a/c, radio, etc...) maybe that will help determine what the problem is...

its not very rough, but the point is, i don't think i should feel the any type of vibration while the car is in idle....
