Recently had the instrument cluster in my 2000 CLK230K replaced under warranty by the dealer I bought it from in Adelaide (MB Aust paid the $2500 bill!)
They were surprised that MB insisted on replacement not repair. I'm only hoping this new cluster has some "improvement" and doesn't end up going like all the others.
However, they assured me that for cars without the Starmarque warranty, they usually use the mob in Moorabbin who charge AUD200.

2000 CLK430
I got mine fixed from an AD on EBay. The guy was from Germany and charged me 80 Euros which is 105 bucks. They guy fixed my pixels in 30 minutes in his garage. I lived in Germany at the time so I just drove to him instead of shipping it but while I was there 3 speedo clusters arrived from the states "US" so he was getting some good business repairing them. I tried to get a sneek peek to learn how he did it but he told me I had to wait outside so its gotta be pretty easy.
You know I might start learning how to repair these myself.

RPMs not working
I pulled my cluster to try and look at my LCDs and see if I had a chance in hell of making them work...NOT...but worse yet is when I put it back in, my RPMs are not working.
Gas gauge and temp and everything else is working just fine. Not sure if I jared the soldering loose on the RPMs dial but looks like everything is as it should be.
I am really hoping for a few suggestions here as I really hate to have another sore spot on top of everything else these clusters have caused!!!
Thanks...

Have u tried to pull it out and retry it? Disconnecting the battery might be a good idea as well. Just to ensure that you don't accidentially short or touch any contacts that you shouldn't. Just some insurance.
