The page is worth looking at because it has some good pics and basic info, but according to Kleemann, the power/torque numbers on the 55 are WAY off because the car had an essentially nonfunctioning intercooler (apparently a hose blew off or something during the first dyno run and after they hooked it back up they didn't get it working correctly). The reason I called Kleemann and asked about the Jimmy page was because I thought the numbers seemed awfully low given the specs on the Kleemann 430 system as well as the stock specs on the 55. Kleemann says the 55 system normally produces rwhp numbers in the low to mid 400's (it's rated at 550 flywheel). I doubt ol' Jimmy 540 is too interested in exploring the issue though.

R. Range...

If that were true about the 55 spec. then why Kleemann still allow Jimmy to post the INFO. Would that will ruin Kleemann business.

linh, the problem is what Jimmy put up is literally true. The 55 DID put out those numbers on that particular dyno run--unfortunately, he doesn't explain (and might not even know) why the numbers are so low. So there is not much Kleemann can do about it, IMO. Anyone with even a passing knowledge of modern forced induction systems can take a look at Jimmy's page and know something is wrong though, and I also doubt Jimmy's site gets a ton of traffic anyway.

R. Range is right- the numbers on "Jimmys540i" page are what the car put down on that run. The CLK was tested at McMullen/Argus tech center along
with two other cars for a story that will be appearing in European Car this spring. I cant do much about Jimmysa site- nor do I want to, as it is a real description of what happened.

During the photo shoot the upper hose for the water to air intercooler radiator failed (clamp actually failed). The hose was repaired, but little attention was paid to filling the intercooler correctly (this is no ones fault, the folks on hand had no idea how to do it). With a large air pocket in the water system, the intercooler is essentially worthless.

I have also had some poor experiences dyno testing vehicles that were known to be funtioning properly. As MBZ continues to produce cars the software versions change for ECU's, ESP, ABS etc. It is virtually impossible to turn the ESP system completely off. The ECU will eventually close the throttle, apply brake or even cut fuel (Im mean, come on your doing a 140mph burn out
as far as the ESP is concerned). This is not the first time a CLK55K
has tested poorly on a dyno.

BUT.. I can say this: the proof is in the driving. Anyone who has
driven one of these cars can attest to the power being there. During a 0 - 60 run a CLK55K will put down two 30 foot long rubber marks as it shifts into 3rd gear! Our CLK43K cant hold a candle to a CLK55K, they are NOT making the
same power.

Mach430, the recent Car and Driver article on the 320K and 430K listed the numbers at 330 hp and 325 ft lbs of torque for the 320 and 427 hp and 401 ft lbs for the CLK430K. I believe Kleemann rates the 55K at 550 hp and 525 ft lbs. All these are flywheel numbers.
