engine shaking at higher rpm
hey guys just seeing if anyone can help me here. my car is fine at low rpms but once i'm at 3000 or 4000 rpm its starts shaking really hard. What is the most likely thing to cause this? i jus spent $450 changing the crankshaft position sensor last week and dont feel like paying another $500 and want to try and solve it myself. Any help would be appreciated!

WOW!!! 450 for a CPS sensor...Mine was only what 40 bucks to change or something like that?? Man from now on before you hit up the dealer please search the how-to's or ask a question before you get robbed like that again. That part or job is only 1 nut to take off and one wire to unattach. I hate when dealers take advantage of people like that!!
As far as the question goes:
How many miles do you have on the car?
Have you done a tune-up ie..spark pugs, wires and such.
Have you cleaned your MAF sensor?

Does it shake if reved while in park? Does it shake at 3000-4000 RPM while in first gear, or does this only happen above x-MPH? Above a certain speed may point toward a wheel being out of balance or possibly the flex discs being in very bad shape.
$450 for a CPS? If that was done at an independent, it may be time to find a different wrench. A CPS can be done in minutes at a dealer, but they have a minimum fee, which will probably be an hour. If done at a dealer, look at your receipt and see if they charged a boatload of cash in diagnostics work.

yah thats why i decided to try to fix this problem myself. It shakes at high rev even in park. And the other day I was drivin along at around 50km when the gas jus wouldnt respond and it was jus reving but not moving this happened for about 10 seconds and then it went back to normal. i was worried it was my transmission but maybe its just the maf sensor needs changing. Has anyone had the same symptoms before changing the maf sensor?

I also have the same concern. When I rev at 4k+ the engine shakes and is making a sound. It's always been doing that, I noticed this last year. I didn't give it too much attention since it doesn't seem to affect my car in anyway and I don't rev the car.
