Sony uses the same harness as MB/VW?
Cheers,
No one seems to have a wireing harness that fits the W208 or at least the big box stores dont.
Glad to see i'm not alone, LOLI can power up the stereo ok but it keeps losing the memory.
I did manage to get a plug from a car spares shop that fits on to the Merc but again the colours are different.
Cheers

Do the sterring wheel controls still work?
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
so if you here something holla back at me and let me know
Does anyone know where I can dip in to get a permanent live other than straight from the battery as it's in the boot.
Has your standard connection block been removed and all you want is the colour of the live feed wire??? If so the standard live/ignition Merc CLK wire is the GREEN/PINK. The Battery wire colour is BLUE/RED. The BLUE/WHITE is the wire that ya stereo turns the AMPs on with.
But like i said with the detailed diagram that i posted yesterday, you could have worked it out as easily as a walk in the park if you have the standard block still connected

Sorry for the vagueness, yes I have the origional connecter, I've also put my tedter on to it & I don't get a reading from the connecter until the ignition is turned on.
I can't get my head round it, my old stereo worked fine.
You don't happen to know where I can take a constant live from apart from the battery do you?
Cheers

Problem is now fixed, I had a couple of blown fuses which I traced back to some wiring problems.
Now we have music & pictures.
Thanks for all replys.

but still have a problem -2000 CLK 430 Not BOSE
BLUE/RED = CONSTANT 12V POWER - CHECK
BLUE/WHITE = AMPS TURN ON (ACCORDING TO THE POST) - CHECK
GREEN/PINK= I DO NOT HAVE THIS WIRE****** - ?????
NOW FOR THE ONES NOT MENTIONED ON THIS POST
BROWN THICK WIRE NEXT TO BLUE/RED SAME HARNESS* ????? I THINK THIS IS MY GROUND.
YELLOW/BLACK WIRE - SAME HARNESS*????
GREEN/RED -SAME HARNESS*????
I can get the aftermarket stereo power on, but I cannot find the GREEN/PINK wire in the harness that is the ACC power. I have wired many stereos before but this is getting rediculas.. can you
guys help an idiot out?
Thanks
The CAN-BUS took ignition signals from the CAN controller and the radio/amp was not required to have an actual ignition signal only a constant for power.
The CAN-BUS told it when to turn on and off according to it's own ignition signal.
You may have to go ahead and find a switched ignition source if you are using an aftermarket unit.
I used the cigarette lighter as my switched ignition source in my 98 CLK 320.
Here's some old stuff I dug up.
Hopefully it will help.

Another question from a newbie:
Yesterday, I bought a Pioneer DEH-3200UB CD Tuner. Installing it in my CLK320 ’01 was a hassle-free 10 minute job.
(It’s a bit sad that it is hard/impossible to find a tuner that can be used with the steering wheel buttons and the car’s display, but that might be the price for owning an old car)
When I read the instructions for the head unit, I noticed that it got an internal crossover function: The rear speaker output got an optional low pass filter and the front speaker output got an optional high pass filter.
That made me wonder how the speakers (I haven’t got the Bose amplifier kit in my car) are connected. This is my guess:
The front speaker system consists of the speakers in the front of the doors and the tweeters, connected via a crossover.
The back speaker system consists of the speakers in the back of the doors and the woofers in the back, connected via a crossover.
Are my guesses correct?
Another question, just being curious: Where should the Bose amplifier be located if the car had been bought with that option?

. . . . . . . . That made me wonder how the speakers (I haven’t got the Bose amplifier kit in my car) are connected. . . . . . . . .
With a PAC SWI-PS and a PAC SWI-CAN2 (you need both) your steering wheel controls will work with a Pioneer deck (provided the Pioneer deck you selected has a steering wheel control feature). If someone can get the TFT to display info I’d really be interested.
I’m going to guess this is a non-US spec car (RoW). I say that because I thought the 2001 Mercedes US press kit stated Bose was standard.
