Looking to buy a CLK 55, any input on reliability and repair costs?
Ive been considering purchasing a CLK 55 a 2001 or 2002. My Dad has a CLK 430 that he bought new in 2000 and its been pretty reliable. What are others experiences? I dont want a money pit. Any input would be appreciated.!

Well, I have had mine for almost three years now and no problems- except the Air Mass Sensor which I replaced. I can't say the same for my BMW.
My 2001 CLK55 AMG also for sale ($23,000) with some tastful performance modifications. If I was to buy again, I would buy from a forum member because they know their cars and take an interest in using the forum to learn more. You are bound to get a better car.
Good luck.

I've owned my '02 since new and have only had the typical W208 related issues. The parts specific to AMG will cost roughly 3 times that of non-AMG CLKs (brake rotors, pads, etc.)
Happy shopping.

Mine has had its share of the common problems although not all of them so far. The fixes are pretty easy and not expensive. Having a good extended warranty and a good independent mechanic are also good ideas.

NO CLK for Sale just comments
I have had my CLK since new in 2001 and I have had to do the following:
CPS Sensor - $110
Mass Air FLow Sensor - $120
Air Filters - 2 of them - $26
Transmission Fluid Change - $250
Spark Plugs - (Didn't really need it, just wanted to upgrade) $200
Oil and Filter CHanges every 5k miles - Mobil 1 8 quarts and Filter 13 bucks at Napa store.
I am probably due for a new battery and a brake job soon and radiator flush..
Currently ishe has 65k miles and I have enjoyed the heck out of every one of them. Very satisfying knowing that I can give just about any car out there on the road a run for it's money.

It'd be nice if someone could come onto a forum and ask a simple reliability question without the F'KING vultures coming out spamming the thread with for sale ads.

Curosity got the better of me and I did a quick search on ebay. Man there are a lot of double nickles for sale. I need to finish paying off mine and my wife's car before I consider buying another car.
