Need a GOOD MB tech in Northern VA!
So i have posted problems I have had with a recurring hesitation and misfiring issue on my 2000 CLK430 cab that is causing me to get HORRIBLE fuel mileage (15 mpg average!) and below par acceleration.
To date, I have replaced all 16 spark plugs, all wires, cleaned MAF sensor, replaced fuel filter, replaced air filters and kept up on my synthetic oil changes yet there has been no improvement at all. I have 90k miles on the car and do not drive it very hard at all. I have tried to pull codes from the OBD II, however, I never get a CEL and am not getting any "soft" codes either to determine the problem.
At this point, I just need an honest indy mechanic that knows CLK's and can diagnose the problem... the local Alexandria "stealer"ship had no clue what is going on, so any referrals would be welcome.
Thanks.

Yea, every time I clock my mileage after a full tank of gas, I am averaging about 15.5 - 17 (if i'm lucky) mpg and it's absolutely annoying me. I went to get my oil change recently from an indy shop and the mechanic firmly believes that it's the fuel that we are using and the addition of 10% ethanol is causing this to happen. He suggested using a concentrated fuel additive every other tank to see if that makes any difference, I haven't tried it yet, but I'll try it after this tank goes empty, which should be in like a day or 2!
btw- thanks for the replies for local techs, good to know there's some competent help around here for our complicated cars

2000 CLK 430 Coupe Owner
I live in Stafford, VA and a very good friend of mine (CLK 320 owner) turned me on to "Eurotech Auto Service, Inc." Check him out. His name is Rick (540-657-1007) and tell him you were referred by LeRoy Key. Good luck!

i'll be paying a visit to Funktion this week... thanks for all the referrals guys. That's the last time i pay the "stealer" $100 plus tax for the wrong diagnosis (FYI- it's the one in Alexandria, stay away)
