Tery, you can get 13 hp at the wheels with our underdrive pulleys, which do not change the way the engine runs. At $499, that's $38 per wheel HP (apprx 15HP at crank).

thanx mach430 but i want to add both
what would the gain be if i add both ? should i add the pulley first then the ECU or it dosen't matter ?

ECU upgrades in my opinion dont really do much. Chipping a corvette is different than upgrading the ECU in your Mercedes. From what i have been told, the ECU adjusts to driving style and adapts to many different things. For instance, I dont believe Ben had his ECU remapped when he added his Kleemann. No need...the ECU made all necessary adjustments anyway. Therefore, i think upgrading the ECU will give you very minimal gains in real, to the wheel, horsepower...just my $.02...

True, I actually had to make sure that my ECU was completely reset to stock before having the Kleemann SC installed, as it requires the ECU to adjust naturally. I have no experience with Renntech's ECU upgrade, but every other one I have tried for the MB has been futile, one with potentially disastrous effects (it's not fun to see your car start up with several misfires, eventually stalling).

Our UD Pulleys are independent of any other performance mod, so neither the ECU nor the pulleys will benefit (or hurt) eachother's performance. I would recommend installing them both at seperate times, so you can get a feel for what each modification adds to your car.

...Since the pulleys produce the most power in 1st and decrease incrementally thru the higher gears, is it safe to assume that we will not notice much punching it on the highway? Is it really possible to feel the difference from 13 HP in first? Finally, since the gains were from a dyno on a 320....should the 430 realize even more gains?

The gains are throughout the powerband. Ask Petie or BrabusCClass. The accessories on the V6 and V8 engines are the same, and require the same power to be driven. Expect the same gains on all MB engines. Lastly, 13hp in 1st gear is much easier to feel than 13HP up top (percentage wise).

hey tery, i have been thinking about doing the same thing. But hearing so many positives and so many negatives for everything mod that increases HP...I decided to keep the engine stock. Let us know how everything goes, and what you decide on.

The pulleys are available for any naturally aspirated V6 or V8 Mercedes engine from 1998 and on. They do not affect the way the engine runs, and the crank pulley is left unchanged.
