Soo pissed off...please help

So yesterday I let my brother borrow my car because his benz was in the shop. He ended up leaving the sunroof halfway open over night like an idiot. Anyways, you can probably guess what happened. It rained! and rained and rained. My whole front interior got soaked! I cant tell you how effing pissed I am.

Heres the deal. The car starts but after a short hesitation. The bas esp lights are on telling me to visit workshop as well as check engine light is on. Heres the real problem. The car although started and running wont let me take it out of park at all. I cant even move it. Like I said the car got pretty wet. I have checked all fuses and their good.

This sucks.....If anyone has advice for me please help, I would greatly appreciate it. My mechanic is out of town till Monday.

water probably got into your shift gate and shorted out the circuits. This would be the reason why you can't shift out of Park.

Let it dry first, and see what happens. Otherwise it's going to cost you a pretty penny to replace the gearshift. Had the same thing happen to me, when my dog knocked over a drink in the stupid cup holder.

It'll release that way for towing. I would put a hairdryer to it and see what happens.

First, you screwed up by turning the electrical system on with all that water in your floorboard and console. You probably shorted the components out now. If so I don't even want to think of the cost.

Second, you probably haven't done much to try and dry it so get started on that now. You need to remove the console form the car so you can get to everything and let it dry inside. You need to pull the seats and carpet because if you don't it is going to mildew like hell under there and you'll smell it forever - most especially on nice warm days.

The floor has traps and they are likely filled to the brim. When you move the car the traps dump forward or backward and when they dump backwards they will dump into the seat ECU's under the seats.

The car should not be moved until it is properly broken down and dried.

just to let you know that the trans computer is where the shifter is. if that got wet then the trans ecu might be damaged.

Quick update guys:

Yesterday I did take the seats out and and dismantled the console. It was wet but not as bad as I thought it would be. I didnt go as far as pulling the carpets but i think I will do that tonight. Anyways I am able to get the car out of park now and I think after I pull the carpets and clean further I may be okay. I no longer show any malfunctions and I was able to put the car in D and shift through the gears with the sport shift although I didnt drive it yet because i want it to be completely dry so I dont get anything else wet. I have my fingers crossed but my brother has already told me he will pay any cost to fix it so at least he's gonna man up for his accident.
