Much needed advice please- 2001 CLK320 Convert

Ok, this is my first post in this section of the forum. My mom just called me and she said that an acquaintance (God I know I spelled tht word wrong. lol) of hers is selling her 2001 CLK320 Convertible. Im about to go check it out right now. The car has 50k miles on it and I dont know anything else about it. Someone who works for my mom told her that the car looks like its in very good condition. Is there anything I should know about this car? Any problems or anything? I dont think that we're going to be getting a warranty on it, would that be a mistake? And also, around how much should we be paying for it? Thank you all for your help.

Also, are there any cheap mods that I could do to the car so that I could have some fun with it too? Thanks

i dont know about any engine problems because i have not had any of yet (knock on wood) but just small problems with the fuse blowing for the driver and passenger seats. yea most warrentys are good until 50000 miles. cheap mods for the 320 nope unless u do an exhaust or sumthing. just prolly make it look real nice with rims and a drop tints.

I would recommend a warranty as a "just-in-case" the w208 are pretty reliable cars, but when items wear out as you are well aware with your w211 they cost a pretty penny. Personally, I haven't had a problem with mine, outside of the common issues: seat motors and cluster pixels.

Unfortunately, there isn't much in the way of "cheap" mods for our 3.2 V6 engines. Small gains in air intake and exhaust. If you want bigger gains, get ready to shell out some big cash and then at that point you might as well look for a 430 cab or a 55 cab.

Ok... I just drove the car, it had a smooth drive, I dont think there was anything wrong with it. The car had a 6 cd changer in the trunk, and bose speakers. It also had heated seats and wipers for the headlights (IDK if those are options or standard so i listed everything I noticed) It also has 55k miles. How much do you think I should be aying for this thing?

Private Party Good condition on Kelly Blue Book says $21,000
Trade-in Good condition on Kelly Blue Book says $18,000

NADA is about the same.

Either way I would say offer them the lower and see what they say. Does it have the additional seats adjustments on the right side of the driver's seat? How about Nav (COMAND) or the integrated phone? Sounds like it has HID and yes, heated seats and the HID were options on the 320 both cab and coupe. What is the color combo of the car? At 55,000 miles you shouldn't have a problem getting a 3rd party warranty on it, good luck. Personally, I think my 320 has just enough power for the coupe, but it might feel a little under powered for the cab as it is 300lbs heavier. So when I have two other people in my car I can totally feel the difference.

Sounds like it's pretty stock so the rims are probably 17s. I don't think you can go wrong, since you already have a beast of a car in the w211 then this would be a great summer car to drive around in.

His asking price is 16.5k, I think I can get him down to 15k. What do you guys have to say about your cars? Do you love em? Would my mom love it? (lol, her daily driver now is a 2003 Tahoe, i think this'll satisfy her) All she does is drive from home to work. I think I'm gonna go for it. Thanks for the input everyone.

He is asking $16,500, wow. Well that alone sounds like a good deal and if you can get him down to $15k, go for it.
