Need Help on Suspension

I currently have H&R Springs Sports kit Stage 2. I have decided to go back to stock height because of the tire issue, vibration, and etc. I was looking into buying K-Mac kit. I gave they guy my credit card number and almost closed the deal until I decided to back out. After my father getting involved, I have a change of heart. He as raced for SCCA Solo 1 and Solo 2 for awhile now so I choose to listen. Not saying that anything is wrong with the K-Mac kit. I just want to know some other peoples opinions about what they think would be my best option. I was looking into a K-Sport coil over setup. Dont know much about them though... any advice or past experience would help. Thanks.

Here's a pic of how low it is now. Please excuse my daughter...

You mention tire issue, vibration, etc...

Are your tires rubbing? What vibration are you experiencing?

Ditto,
Chappy and I have both tracked our cars and we have the same european AMG springs on our CLK55s.
Coil overs can be great but you had better know what your doing with them. Depending on how they are adjustable. You can get them totally out of wack on the compression and rebound.

What is great about coil overs is the adjustability of them. Spring purches for ride height and compression/rebound for handling and ride quality.

Take your time read about them first before you start adjusting them and do it in small incriments.

My tires really don't rub at all. Thats not my problem. The problem is having one side of the tire being used because of the springs lowering the car. I eat up good performance tires within 3 months. I'm tired of replacing them.

The vibration Im sure has to do with it cambering in and my alignment needing an adjustment. I just want to be able to have a nice smooth unbumpy ride and also not have to replace my tires all the time. I dont want to add on even more aftermarket products (KMac) on top of another. In my opinion that doesnt work for me. Atleast not anymore.

If anybody else could chime in that knows what spring set up he has and is it comparible to the H&R cup kit. If so i'm interested in them if your looking to sell them once you get your new set up unless its different since I have a 430 and yours is a 320. what spring pads are you running front and rear? I'm planning on running at least a 19" set up

Camber is not so much of an issue as your toe settings.
You need to have the cars alignment checked.

Yep, for starters. Since the OP didn't mention it, I'm assuming he's running stock CLK320 dampers...a mistake IMO with lowering springs.

Part of the reason increased tire wear is evident is due to hot having a matched set of suspension components. In other words, if you run lowering springs, you should run sport dampers for a V6, not a V8.

Camber/Crash bolts and a 4-wheel alignment may also solve the issue. I hate to say this but chrome wheels can also contribute to vibration issues.

If everything else checks out, look closely at your LCA bushings...mine starting giving up on my CLK55 after only 20K miles or so - and at that time had never tracked the car other than one day at the drags. Ployurethane bushings have helped, but may not be the perfect/final answer.

Good luck!
