Review: Octane of San Francisco
After reading all the positive reviews of this place on yelp I figured I'll give it a try. Once entering Octane (also a Kleenman supplier) you're greeted with a neat and clean shop with benzs all over the place. The owner, Randy, was very friendly and knowledgible. Seems like everyone working there use to be a former tech from MB of SF. I initially made an appointment for my brakes to be replaced, transmission flush, and replacement motor mounts due to a rough idle. After doing a road test Randy discovered that one my cylinders had a misfire which also contributed to the rough idle. I'll do a break down on my repairs...
-Front brake job (rotor, pad, and sensor) - $496.86
-Transmission flush - $361.65
-Replace motor mounts - $450.00
-Replace Spark plugs, Ignition cable and wire - $560.20
My total bill came to $1740.52 ($190 discount given by Randy). Randy and his staff was very friendly and helpful and answered whatever question I had.
The benz now shifts amazingly smooth and there is no longer any vibration at idle. I highly recommend Octane

It's good that you felt that this shop was very helpful and friendly, however, those prices you paid are pretty high.
When I replaced my motor mounts AND tranny mounts, I only paid $375 TOTAL. Transmission flush was only $275.... and this was 2 separate appointments.
But the main thing that matters most, is that you feel comfortable, and trust this new shop =)

Sounds like they did a great job.
Where in SF are they located?
They seem a bit pricey though.
Last summer I replaced my drivers side motor mount for about $110 (the part itself was $86 from MB SF) It took them very quickly to replace it, I watched them do it. Longest part was to wait for my car to cool down before they did any work on it.

Ouch...! It's really pricy for me! (just my oppinion)
Thanks for bringing up the price! I'll never go to that place. With that almost 2K, I could consider trade up for an V8.
Sorry if I am not thinking like you

I've read that people are getting ATF drains for $2XX around socal.
Anyone have a dipstick I can borrow? I want to drain the ATF and change the filter asap.
If I don't have a dipstick to use, I plan on measuring the amount of fluid drained and fill accordingly. I was quoted $16/qt of type 6 ATF from SF MB.
